Pat has a long release. He needs to correct that or he won't play. I have said it in the past this offense does not suit his abilities imo...

UK has been looking for a savior but Pat needs time to sharpen his skills and learn the offense. Sure he needs to say coach I want this challenge and speed the process up but this could easily happen to Barker once he leaves Hebron, KY. It's SEC football not Ryle and Boone Co.

No, just his lengthy injury history and being banged up today, before SEC play has even begun.

I don't see any offense fitting a long release. It has to be fixed for him to have success. Dinks and dunks actually allow more for a long release. It's the hard slants and outs that do not.

 

I think it's more than just his release. The complexities of defenses may be a challenge as well.

I agree it is both..

When Smith went down today, they had Phillips and Towles both warming up on the sidelines. It certainly seems like an option.

He was chosen to the Elite 11 Camp because he can't play..

I would say that is part of it. Let's be honest, HS football in KY is pretty bad and when you are leading a loaded team it may not paint a full picture. It does not mean he can't play, but it is just hard to get a complete grasp of one's abilities coming from HS. Completely different game.

If Pat truly wants to be "The Guy" then imo he should transfer. However, uf he truly loves the school and being a Cat then I guess he needs to get verter so there is no doubt.

I'd love for PT to take this job this year if he's deemed good enough.

Hopefully Pat gets a chance this year, I don't think a redshirt does him any favors with Barker coming in and being "the guy". But what I don't get is the people who are telling PT to transfer. He's only a Sophomore, sometimes it takes a few years to develop. He has all the tools to be a heck of a QB.
