If Max Smith Is Out For The Year, Do You Pull Towles Redshirt?

Featured Replies

Jalen Whitlow certainly hasn't looked too hot so far, and Max Smith has a lengthy injury history.

Do you pull Towles redshirt and give him a chance or save him for a better year?

Very good question.

It's tough to answer because I'm not sure what the coaching staff thinks of him and his ability.

I would think they may even consider having Phillips as an option at QB and leaving the red shirt on Towles.

If Max Smith isn't done for awhile, you have to take note of him being banged up before the SEC schedule has even begun.

If Smith can't go I'd rather roll with Towles. If he wants a legit chance to ever be Kentuckys quarterback you would think this has to be the year (if Smith cannot go).

I don't see how Towels could do that much worse than Whitlow, but it doesn't appear that we're really in contention for a bowl game or anything like that, so what do we really have to play for this year as compared to later years?

If Towles isn't better than Jalen he needs to either accept that he will not play or move on to another school. I hope he ends up #1 this year if Smith can't go.

I'm still stunned those two beat him out for #1 and #2.

This.

Stunned.......

Maybe Towles just isn't that good. This would make two different staffs that put him 3rd.

Was Towles success at Highlands due to the system he was in?

I'd save his redshirt and then politely try to help him find a new home for next season.

He was chosen to the Elite 11 Camp because he can't play..

Did I miss something? Is there a reason to think that Smith is done for the year?

There are hundreds of kids that were great in high school but couldn't cut it in college.

So I guess he is third on the depth chart because the other two QBs Kentucky had placed higher in the Elite 11 camp. :sssh:
