Jimmy John's isn't even close to Jersey Mike's for cold subs.

I've been on a Firehouse kick lately...

Penn Station I suppose. Not a sub connoisseur by any stretch. I'd like to try Firehouse subs. What makes them any better than the others by the way?

I tried Firehouse. I won't be back. Skimpy on the sub and definitely over priced. Penn Station has nothing to worry about from Firehouse.

Of those listed, I like Penn Station the best. Potbelly's is my favorite, it would be sub place, right?

It feels great not to be alone on the Potbelly bus.

Drove through Ft. Wright on Monday and was wondering if Sub Station II is still as good as it used to be. Loved that place back in the day.

Very little has changed. I think the décor could do with some (serious) updating...but the food's as good as ever.

A bank I worked at a few years back financed a Penn Station franchise and the week before they opened the employess went thru like a Penn Station bootcamp of making their food items. They would call us about everyday to come out and get some free sandwiches they made. So we pretty much tried them all in a week.

Just stay away from the one in Florence.

Valid point. I was only speaking for the Ft. Wright store. The Florence store is not a pleasant experience.

Best one for me is sadly gone and has been for 6 yeaes now. Headyz in the Highlands, formerly known as The Cheba Hut, was freaking awesome.

Only place I have enjoyed almost as much since then is Lotsa Pasta in St. Matthews

I used to go there a lot as well back in the day when I worked nearby there, but haven't been in some time. What's different about it nowadays compared to Ft. Wright?

A#1 issue with me is that it seems grungy and dirty as soon as I walk in the door. Things are messy behind the counter, and the dining area isn't necessarily the cleanest. I've noticed the produce being a little past its prime on a couple of occasions now too. Plus both of the last two of times I was in there, the owner did nothing but gripe to all of the customers going through the line about how bad business is for him nowadays.

You won't find me back in there any time soon.

The last time I was there, the meat wasn't in the cooler. It was sitting on a baking sheet that sat on top of another backing sheet with ice on it. That was late at night and not during prime dinner time. The meat, the cheese, and the toppings were all room temperature. One bite, and the sandwich went into the garbage.

Serious question. Why does anyone like Jimmy Johns? To me, their bread is just terrible, and nothing seems very "flavorful" to me. I've gotten their subs a couple of times by choice, 2 or 3 times from someone catering them in. Not good any time.

I like Quiznos, when you can find a good one. Had one here in Frankfort for a while, liked the food, service was horrible and store was badly mismanaged.

Since I never answered my own poll, I vote Jimmy John's as my favorite. I love their Italian Night Club and the fast fast fast delivery is a plus. Definitely a fan of Subway. I've only had Penn Station once but sounds like I'll have to try it again. Had Firehouse for the first time last weekend and it will probably be the only time as I did not enjoy it.

Thank you. I am glad to hear I am not the only one with these thoughts on Jimmy Johns. It seems to me that one of the big attractions for the JJ fans is their delivery. I'm thinking the JJ fans love someone helping them out with their late night munchies, and anything that shows up tastes excellent. :hungry: :)
