BGHS is the only public team to beat St X at Brother Thomas More Stadium. The facility is first rate, though I would prefer it to be a little more intimate. Super stadium personnel...they treat you right and make sure you know that they want you to have fun watching the game! The only stadium fare St X falls short of BGHS on is the popcorn...you can get really full on the food at St X! Mrs PH and I love it there!

 

The Purples went on a 42 pt run after LexCath scored first. Super explosive. But the Tigers now have a passing game to go with Walker and will be very hard to stop. For sure, I'm pulling for the Purples, but I'm quite sure that this game will end with neither team deserving to lose. These games have been absolute classics the last few years, and the Tiger fans both here and in person give the Purples a great deal of respect...they have certainly earned it.

 

With all that said, I like the Purples in a real tight one again. I hope that the Tiger posters will come over and see us on the track. I'll be wearing my 1976 vintage BGHS jersey #57...the same one I wore when we beat Paducah Tilghman for the first time ever in that year! It has come to be known as the "magic jersey"! Of course, you know I'm in a wheelchair, so you have to be blind to miss me! I know that Pride will look us up! I promise that the Purples fans will not bite unless I tell them too! Actually, St X fans are well liked by the Purple fans as well, not just me.

 

I will be celebrating 30 years of being cancer free that night...I hope that I can celebrate a win in what could be one of the biggest games of the year in the Commonwealth as well. What a night that would be! Best of luck to both teams!! And...Sic 'em, Purple!!

This is not the Highlands of old and if memory serves me correctly and those Highlands teams were still very good teams when Lov St X beat them handily at PBS.

 

To make some comparisons as to where Highlands has gone and been since last playing Lou St X lets just use the Cincy St X team that destroyed Lou St X and then beat Trinity only to get their lunch handed to them on National TV by the Birds.

 

Different era and I believe different results if they were to play today...

I'm confused on how the purple faithful are firm believers that their defense can stop the running attack when they haven't been able to do so in 2 years. The line has only gotten bigger and better since them and as has the backs.

 

But, when BG's offense takes the field, who covers Fant for St. X? Team effort or individual player? I don't know if they can contain him 1-on-1.

Mix it up...I believe it will be mostly zone, but if I had to choose Dakota Jones would be my beat to man him up.

 

But X can't man him all game or else bad things will happen.

This will be a great game and one that I encourage all to attend no matter where you are located in the state. The home crowd will be crazy, especially the students in the Rage Cage.

 

As for the game itself, I am not sure if the Tigers are ready for Bowling Green. As a St. X homer, I want nothing more than for St. X to end the Purples streak, but as of right now I'm not very confident in the defense and it's ability to stop a good offense. Giving up touchdowns of 28, 66, and 72 yards to an average group of receivers and a decent quarterback does not bode well for next week's matchup with the best receiver in the state and a very underrated quarterback in Devin Hayes.

 

It will be a close game, as it has been the past 2 seasons, I predict a score of 31-26 with Bowling Green winning, but by the end of the week I may be switch that! I think Nagle coughs up the ball twice with two interceptions which keeps the game in favor of BG, but he will be a great game manager and help get Charles Walker the ball. Hope the Tigers can pull it out though! Roll Tigers.

Certainly a primary challenge faced by St. X is that the Purples have similar and extremely talented firepower with a senior group with even more speed than the Knights who has played together since middle school with Hayes, Fant, Tisdale and company. I would assume there will adjustments after reviewing film of the last two games. The Tigers are certainly working out some things on the defensive side but they will be improved this week. They faced top level state talent in the air game this past week and will do so again this week. Given the similar offenses of LCHS and BG it was probably a good scheduling to be as prepared as possible for this special group from BG.
