August 28, 201313 yr Yep Agreed. Clearly it would be great if they could get hot, but I'll take where they are under those circumstances.

August 28, 201313 yr With all that you guys still blame Baker. SMHNope, when guys refuse to hit behind runners, or aren't mentally prepared to play the defensive half, or can't bunt, or can't run the bases, something has to give. That starts and ends as the responsibility of the toothpick.

That starts and ends as the responsibility of the toothpick. In MLB there's more accountability than that. Welsch said it last night, Cozart's base running mistake is something you learned in JV ball. No way that's on the manager. Hitting behind runners? You saying Ludwick doesn't know that? Baker needs to tell Votto how many outs there are every inning when there are 5 scoreboards and an umpire right behind him? You're better than that.
August 28, 201313 yr Bailey vs. Wainwright. How we lookin? Wish it was a day game to get the pain over with sooner than 11 tonight...
August 28, 201313 yr Might be a locker room problem, too. Maybe Rolen is missed in that sense. I was about to post along this same line of thinking. I am not going to call it a locker room problem, but I do think this team desperately needs a leader. It isn't Joey Votto. In fact, this team seems to have taken on Votto's personality and it isn't good. Phillips isn't a leader. Bruce is not going to step in front of those two and lead. Who on this team is a player you wish all the other players would emulate? This isn't a Dusty issue. Teams need player leadership and that seems to be lacking on this team. Anyone else agree?

The "player's manager" approach is fine for some clubs, not this one IMO.
August 28, 201313 yr Castellini needs to hire a vagina manager. Because that's what he has a roster full of.
August 28, 201313 yr So, what's the answer then? Seriously, I said it last night, can you imagine Lou managing this bunch? The "player's manager" approach is fine for some clubs, not this one IMO. No answer for this season. The only person leadership capable IMO is Ludwick. Maybe if he gets hot, the team will follow him. If Lou were the manager, Joey Votto would want out of here ASAP. His fragile psyche wouldn't be able to handle that type of manager.
