But your not normally in favor of it? What makes this murder any worse than any of the 100's of murders committed each day?

Not trying to be smart but why now and not every other time?

I am only in favor of it when there is ZERO doubt who committed the crime. Too often that doubt is there. I'd rather let a guilty go guy than imprison an innocent person.

Those animals don't deserve to live anymore. Just sickening.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. In most cases I am against it. But there are some animals I can't argue with that deserve it. I want to say I'm completely against it but I can't. It should be used in extreme circumstances. I have the part of me that says no man should take another mans life except in self defense. But we don't live in a world of black and white. There is a whole lot of grey.

In my own country, spindokota, I'd make the rules for the death penalty quid pro quo. I'd let these guys jog along the road and look over their shoulder as their death approached.

OK just wondering where the distinction was.

I am against the death penalty even here. Studies show that killing the guilty person does not give additional closure to victims' family members. In fact, oftentimes it is quite the opposite, with the victim's family members knowing that the family members of the executed person now are feeling the same pain. A professor once told me that if you are not willing to stand in the room and flip the switch and kill a person then you really shouldn't support the death penalty. That kind of stuck with me. I am sure if someone was, for example, attacking my wife i could shoot them dead on the spot. However, after an arrest and a trial I don't think I could see that person strapped to a chair and flip the switch on him myself. I'm sure I would want to, but I don't think I could. And frankly, I think I feel better about myself knowing that I couldn't do it. (For the record, I am a registered Republican - fiscally conservative, but middle-of-the-road socially :) )

I'm in the minority here but I believe the death penalty should be used more often than it currently is.

I agree that there should be no doubt before it is used, but there are more than a few people serving life + sentences who don't deserve to still be around.

I've been to Ada, Oklahoma and visited ECU and there is nothing out there. But why would it cross your mind to just randomly go and shoot someone.

Maybe I just watch too many movies, but I hate the insanity plea to keep from getting a death sentence.

AMEN

These guys should be executed tomorrow...

I've had more school than most. One thing I've determined after all of those years is that some professors are morons.

You can't find at least one case somewhere where you wouldn't or couldn't bring yourself to do that? I sure could. I guess that's why I have no problem with the death penalty in general.
