August 20, 201313 yr My thoughts on the death penalty. I don't think everyone who deserves it or meets the criteria should be executed. Some should be. Here's my dividing line. If a guy did something bad enough, whatever that might be, to deserve the death penalty, but that person is a "hardened" criminal and he would actually survive prison quite nicely and possibly even thrive inside, then I say kill him as for him personally that would probably be the worst punishment for him. On the other hand, you have someone who commits the same act, but he's some soft Joe six pack who would be terrified for his life every day inside the walls, then don't put him on death row, let him stick it out inside. That would be his worst punishment, death would be a release for him. That might be a sadistic way of looking at it, and maybe go against my Christian beliefs, I'm not sure, but some people in my estimation deserve the worst punishment we can legally give, and it's not always death in my opinion.

I guess that's why I have no problem with the death penalty in general. With the logic you and I both quoted, perhaps that professor had similar feelings about abortion. If you couldn't extract the fetus yourself, you shouldn't vote for it.
