That has to be one of the nicest parks in baseball. Noticed lots of tailgating outside,almost like a football atmosphere and they always have huge crowds no matter how the team is doing. May take in a game there this year or next, has anyone been there and could give me some tips on hotels,etc.? Thanks

I was there about 6 yrs ago with my son, great ballpark to watch a game. We grabbed a cheap hotel about 15 minutes outside of downtown because we were heading to Chi Town the next day for a Cubs game. My buddy was there this weekend and he stayed at the same hotel the Reds stay in and I cant think of the name but it is rumored to be haunted. I was in Minneapolis this week for work and went to a Twins game at Target Field. By far the best park I have ever been too.. It was absolutely gorgeous!! I highly recommend going if you ever have a chance..:thumb:

Tailgating has always been awesome at Brewers' games. My first game at old County Stadium was in 1983. That was my first experience with tailgating. We cooked brats and dogs and shared with people up and down the row. We played football and played catch. I went back there in 1989 and watched Jose Canseco put on a show in batting practice -- left-handed. In all, I went to five games at County Stadium. I have never been to Miller Park but I can't imagine the experience being much different

I have a friend who visits stadiums every summer. He has been to all of them. Detroit is his favorite.

That's gonna be my thing as well moving forward, including the NFL. Going to Packers game Friday and Miller Park next month, hope to do 3 a year at least. Could your friend offer me any advice on hotels around Miller Park that offer game and airport shuttle, maybe a baseball package deal of some sort? Thanks.

Hard to find a better atmosphere. As the stadium goes, I'd say its average. Nothing too special to me

Rush to complete new stadium blamed for deaths of three US construction workers

Three construction workers were killed July 14 when a 567-foot crane lifting a 400-ton section of a retractable roof bent in half and collapsed inside the new Miller Park stadium being built for the Milwaukee Brewers' professional baseball team. An estimated 1,200 tons of concrete and debris fell, killing the workers and injuring five others, including the crane operator.

 

The dead were Jerome Starr, 52, Jeff Wischer, 40, and William DeGrave, 39, who were in a cage that was being hoisted by another crane when the disaster occurred. Fortunately nearly all of the other 700 construction workers at the site had been removed as a precaution during the roof lift.

Went about a month ago, and was overly impressed. Nicest park I have visited. The scoreboard is unbelievable, and of course Bernie Brewer sliding down the slide. No bad seats really, roof over your head, it was sweet. The sausage race was awesome in person, especially betting with friends on who would win. It was part of a 3 day baseball trip that started in St. Louis, then to Milwaukee, then onto the Cubs and the rooftops. Hotels are off the main exit, really nice and for the money cheap, we shuttled to a pub called "rounding third" they shuttled us to the game, and picked us up after, and back to rounding third after the game, really nice set up. The tail gating outside was crazy! Thought I was at an SEC venue in football.

I had forgotten about that.

Tailgating at County/Miller is legendary. Had a friend call me from there, Opening Day in 2011. He whispers into his phone "Help me!! I'm stuck in 1985!" (The year we graduated) There are beer bongs and cardboard outhouses and I'm drunk and it's only 10 a.m." I still laugh whenever I think about that call.

I've been to Miller Park. It is a nice park, but pretty similar to several other parks (Arizona's comes to mind). It is very nice & fan friendly, though.

 

It is an odd location. When we went (probably 6 years ago), downtown Milwaukee was really struggling. We stayed downtown, but we weren't able to find many good bars or restaurants in the downtown setting. We went to the Miller Distribution center, which was very cool (even if you're not a light beer guy). It's a reasonable road trip from the NKY area and you can always hit up Chicago as well.

I went two years ago with a bunch of buddies. The stadium itself is one of nicest I've ever been t0. The tailgaiting was on par with NFL games. The big bonus was how much cheaper you get alcohol inside their stadium compared to the Reds. You could get liquor drinks cheaper than you get a beer in Great American. The only downfall is they don't have much surronding the stadium to do before or after the game. You must take a cab to night life from the stadium.
