August 8, 201313 yr I go back to a tweet from Jody right after the news broke and wonder just how much spin is involved from the UL side. His initial reaction was the say the UL staff was "shocked" when they heard the news. Since then we have gone from shocked to Scott wanted guaranteed playing time to he was advised to explore options. One of these things is not like the others... I have a hard time believing the Sniders willingly left UL without being pushed to do so. If UL was so 'shocked' why wouldn't they re-recruit him? And why throw Scott under the bus like they did?

August 8, 201313 yr So are you saying he didn't ask for guaranteed PT? No. I don't know the entire specifics of the situation. He very well may have asked for guaranteed time. I do believe that as much as the Sniders have claimed to love UL that I don't believe the Sniders had any intentions of leaving UL voluntarily. I also don't believe any spin UL would put on the situation to make themselves look good.
August 8, 201313 yr ^ Was just getting ready to post that. Ben Roberts @NextCats Just spoke to Quentin Snider's dad. 13 offers so far. No contact with UK, UofL or Ohio St. since decommitment from Cards last week.

August 9, 201313 yr After reading that article I can't help but wonder if wanting playing time early was turned into asking for guaranteed playing time. That's two different things to me. If immediate playing time is what he wants then he's going to probably have to settle for a school like Minnesota, USC, etc... All the top tier schools have their 2014 PGs. There's no point in going after Q at this point if you already have your guards.

August 10, 201313 yr The UL spin machine at its finest. Yup. Had nothing to do with "guaranteed" playing time. Was simply the ability to add...
August 10, 201313 yr The special players want to play with other great players and have the confidence to believe they will earn their playing time no matter who the coach brings in.
August 10, 201313 yr The special players want to play with other great players and have the confidence to believe they will earn their playing time no matter who the coach brings in. That's not true. Thousands of players choose to go somewhere where they can play immediately. Including the special ones. Why go to UL to sit on the bench for 2-3 years and not be part of their plan when you can go elsewhere and likely start immediately and be a part of a program's plan? The special players weigh their options and choose accordingly.
August 10, 201313 yr Kids have every right to choose the best spot for them. But I will hold firm that special players find a way to out-work/out-think/out-hustle/out-class the competition. There aren't many special players in the definition I am using.
