August 2, 201313 yr @SteveJones_CJ: Some interested in Quentin Snider: UCLA, USC, IU (will visit unofficially) MichSt, Xav, Cin, Butler, TexTech, Manhattan, Vandy, Memphis
August 3, 201313 yr Not that surprising to me. Have heard for a while there was concern over the number of guards Pitino has landed. Will be interesting to see how this plays out from here... Gametime, in speaking with someone today close to the situation, apparently he wanted some guarantee on PT by his soph year and was told competition would determine minutes. Doesn't sound like a kid with a lot of dog to him. Would make me skeptical, regardless of talent.
August 3, 201313 yr Author Heard from multiple aau guys that Sniders dad wants guaranteed playing time and Pitino wouldnt do that. I'm just wondering if this is Q' s decision or dads. UofL will not recruit him.
August 3, 201313 yr Top 50 kids wanting a spot where they know they can play a lot by year two isn't exactly a revelation. Without Snider UL has 5 top 50 level guards between the 2013 and 2014 class. Math. Fun...

August 3, 201313 yr A spot where it is logical they will earn playing time = logical Asking for guaranteed playing time = cancer in the making
August 3, 201313 yr Author I'm sure its cool for kids to commit early some even before their jr/sr year but how many stick to the commitment. Seems like most of the early commits to UofL and IU decommit. I know its a two way street between recruit and college but why not just wait.
August 3, 201313 yr Is this a situation where the Dad is similar to a Billy Staten? Haven't gotten that feeling in my dealings with him, but I'm not a college coach...
August 3, 201313 yr I really think Da Cards will be fine.. If a kid didn't or doesn't wanna to compete I'd rather him go elsewhere. The Cards are loaded at the guard spots and a kid wants mins at the Ville he earns them. I wish him well but this team is loaded with talent and is only going to get better over yrs! GO CARDS
August 3, 201313 yr I don't really like the idea of a kid/parent asking for "guaranteed" playing time... Seems selfish to me.
August 3, 201313 yr So it's cool for a school to offer you a scholarship and over recruit at your position but it's not cool for the player to question the school's motive and their plan and vision for you? As a parent of a kid who is in college and on a basketball team that has watched the school bring in more recruits at his position how would you feel about your son's chances at that school? Why would you advise your kid to go there when it's obvious the school doesn't feel you are the answer at that position? Why wouldn't you re-open your recruitment to see who truly wants you? Makes sense to me. Especially after reading Playing Their Hearts Out. I'll always side with the players who are constantly eaten up and spit out by the machine.
August 3, 201313 yr And for the record my kid is at a college that has recruited at his position so I know exactly how Scott and Quentin Snider feel.
August 3, 201313 yr And even further for the record, this is Pitino's MO. This is why I have NEVER liked Pitino. This is what he has always done. Some folks like a coach willing to kick a kid to the curb after making a commitment to the kid for better players trusting the coach is doing the right thing for the program. Some of us like coaches who find that balance to do right by the kid and the program. It's not complicated.
