There would be nobody else on the staff you'd want pitching in that situation other than Chapman.

With runners on 1st and 3rd after the errors, I agree.

With the way the season has played out for the Reds, keeping Chapman in the pen has been a great decision ... for this year. Looking at the big picture, the way the Reds have stuck Chapman in the pen is a waste of talent.

Dusty is an idiot

Down 3-1 bases loaded and nobody out...Votto at bat....Let's go REDS!!!

Hit into a DP, run scored...wow thanks Joey!

Bases loaded no outs 3 and 4 hitters up and back to back grounders to end the inning...jeez

Votto = Mental Midget

Dusty is an idiot

Your post gives me no clue as to why you say this. However, I will take a shot at it. If you are saying this because he stuck with Homer, then I know where you are coming from. Sticking with Homer is why players love playing for Dusty and it also why I have doubts about him winning in the playoffs. Today's game is a game you manage like a playoff game. Dusty wanted to give Homer a chance to win that game and that is why he stuck with him. At 110 pitches in the 7th of a tie game today, Dusty has to get Homer out of there. That is a situation that says win first and worry about player's feelings later. If Homer is mad about being removed, so be it.

Does not help that he cannot run anymore. He is a DP waiting to happen now if he hits it on the ground. Not any different than Phillips, Frazier, Cozart, and whatever catcher is in the lineup.

By listening to Thom go on and on, one would be led to believe that was the first time in baseball history a team had a bases loaded, no out situation and scored one run...

I wonder if the Pirates' announcers did the same last night when they had runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs and didn't score any runs? The Pirates basically turned the tables on the Reds today. Same type of game and situation. Neither team got it done at the plate when they needed it.

Just a poor situational hitting team. 98 game sample size says enough...

I am going to put that on the batting coach. Someone needs to help the batters with headset and game plan when batting in certain situations. That is the batting coach's main job in my opinion.
