What will the top in 3A look like in the pre-season? What teams will surprise us? What normal top 10 teams will not be as good as expected? I'll start with what I expect. What do you think?

1. Central

2. Belfry

3. Bell County

4. Breathitt County

5. Fort Campbell

6. Paducah Tilghman

7. Monroe County

8. Bourbon County

9. Wayne County

10. Corbin

Others:

South Warren

LaRue County

Garrard County

Trigg County

-Central is Central..loaded...clear #1

- I expect Wayne County to be right up at the top of the class. Cardinals were playing at or near that mark lasts season and return nearly everyone. May have the best chance of anyone to dethrone Central.

- Belfry has possibly the best backfield in KY and will be impressive offensively.. huge questions on defense. Still a lock for the #2 or #3 spot.

- You have Breathitt wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too high. Bobcats lost Mr. Everything in Trent and the majority of their skill players...also lost the heart of their defense. On top of that Holcomb leaving and unrest at the BOE and I am not sure they are even a Top 10 team.

- Monroe is in a similar spot of Breathitt having to replace Wilson who essentially was their entire offense.

- Bourbon County lost Hopkins..but I think returns 9 starters on each side of the ball from a team that was 13-0 before playing Belfry. Pope may be the best QB in 3A and has his top two WR's back.

- Mason County is my darkhorse surprise team. Don't think they have a Top 5 team..but they return basically everyone including essentially every skill guy. Easier schedule.. a 10-0 start wouldn't surprise me.

- Pike Central and Russell I dont see being threats. PC is another year away from competing.. Russell just is in a down stretch.

- Lawrence County and Morgan County are worth watching. Bulldogs return a good deal from a team who was better than their results last year. Morgan County had a heart warming regular season and pushed Breathitt and return their best players. With Breathitt set to be down they may be able to steal the district and a soft schedule could help them be 8-2 or 9-1.

I believe South Warren will make some noise in 3A this year. They were tough last year and have most of their players coming back. definitely a top 10 school.

I agree...with the talent they have returning I like them ahead of Monroe County

I agree about Breathitt County. Graduation and Coach Holcomb leaving gives them way too many question marks. Flip flop them and Wayne County.

South Warren might very well be playing in the region championship this year vs. Tilghman. Everything I'm hearing out of Bowling Green this year is that these guys are ready and capable of doing big things this year.

Trigg County returns their QB and RB from last year. Plus, Trigg is Trigg; they always have the talent to be in the mix of things.

Adair County is a team that I think could surprise some people this year as well. Adair returns practically everybody from their 6-5 team last year..close to 20 seniors and I wouldn't be shocked one bit to see them get the 2nd seed in their district. Can they beat both Monroe and South Warren? Who knows, but beating one of them to earn the schools first ever home playoff game would not be a shock. I went to the Adair/Monroe game last year, and Adair gave them all they wanted. The difference in that game was one team had Mr. Wilson and the other didn't.

LaRue County will scratch and claw for everything they get this year. There will be a whole lot of youth on the field in Hodgenville this fall. Youth as in several sophomores and even some freshmen that will start and/or get a lot of clock.

Wayne County will be stacked as most everybody knows.

Corbin will be Corbin.

Garrard County will make another run for the region championship this year, and things are only going to get better the next few years in Lancaster. Garrard isn't going away.

Lawrence County returns most everybody from their 5-7 team last year. I'm almost positive they return all of their skill kids and most, if not all of their line. Can they beat Belfry? That's a stretch, but I can easily see them earning the #2 seed in that district this year.

I agree with everything but the Corbin will be

Corbin. Corbin has not been the Corbin of old lately. I am glad people are not talking about Bell County.

That's what I was going to say too, then I realized that it still might be a little high for Breathitt Co. to be in the top 10.

South Warren is loaded, and it starts with an absolute monster on the DL by the name of Adrian Middleton. I'd start them at #7 and they just might get better as the season goes along. This will be the Spartans' third varsity season, but they will be nobody's pushover.:thumb:

South Warren will be loaded, that much is certain, it'd be interesting to see them compete in the appropriate class. I have my doubts they'd be garnishing as much attention as they are now. As for Monroe, I think they'll likely struggle to find their identity early in the season, but make no mistake they have talented hard working young men that have been successful at every level they've played at. I have no reason to believe that wont continue.

Bell County will be young but will be there in the end. They have a tough schedule that will challenge them early.

Breathitt Co. to high, Wayne need be in top 3, Corbin does not belong. South Warren should be ranked in top 10.

I think South Warren would be considered a fringe team in 4A, which would be their proper class at this point. Obviously it is much more to their advantage to be competing in 3A. I believe this year is a "strike while the iron is hot" type of year for South Warren. This class is the one they've been building towards and with the enrollment advantage on top of it, they need to capitalize.
