Bishop Brossart starting a football program

Featured Replies

 O.K. I'm confused..I thought parents sent their kids to private schools in order to receive a faith based education and not for athletics, or so I've been told, over and over and over. ;):D

BigZig, in a smart aleck mood this morning I see. People choose private schools for multiple reasons and you know it. Faith is one; discipline is one; athletics is one. There are other reasons I'm sure.

You're saying Cold Spring is equidistant in mileage between the two schools? Also I-471 gets quite interesting at that time of day.

From the St. Joe parking lot in Cold Spring to NCC is 5.8 miles. From the St. Jos parking lot to Brossart is 5.5 miles.

Friday does end in 'Y'.

I hear that "you are going to NCC from birth" stuff a lot and no doubt it is true to a great extent. But the Bardo kids didn't go to NCC in spite of their fathers going there. The Schrode kid didn't go to NCC in spite of his father going there. I am sure there are others. I am sure a large number of kids who do attend NCC probably attend because of the fact their fathers went there.

As much as people in Fort Thomas pay for taxes combined with the success of Highlands football makes the situation a little different don't you think?

 Who me in some sort of sarcastic mood? Never :D

I agree that people do send their kids to private schools for a variety of reasons that you have mentioned. I just happen to think more and more rank them in the opposite order that you listed them. :ylsuper:

Well time to get out of this thread. I can see you guys are just laying there waiting to ambush me and it's a battle I won't win. Get in, Get out and relatively painless.. Oh and good one sticky, you kill me.. :jump:

It is a slow, silent killer. And, it will hurt the other programs at Brossart too. Look at Holy Cross, they still have solid sports programs but all things considered HC was better before football.

:thumb:

HC in every guy sport seemed to be more competive prior to football.

Brossart has a very strong tradition in cross country which could be destroyed with this addition. I know a coach at St.Henry that is fighting tooth and nail to never to allow it there.

If offering football at Brossart increases enrollment how long would they actually be a Class A football program. Hasn't their enrollment been increasing each year as it is?

If St Henry starts a football program in the very near future as I hope they do wouldn't they come in as a Class AA?

Very informative, I would have never guessed that. I also did not know that kids going to NCC lived in St. Joes parking lot;lol

You would know that if you had kids and have to traversed to every gym in the area. ;)

Does BB join the NKY Class A district?

Brossart enrollment has been somewhat even the last few years because there is/was a house building ban in a lot of the area around Brossart because of sewer line problems. And add in increased cost of tuition to attend a private school. When the building restrictions are lifted it should lead to significant growth in that area but at 400 students they have growth room before being 2A.

St. Henry would come in at 2A with somewhere around 530-560 students.

You would think they'd eventually take Bracken's place.

I agree that it is a little different. But I guess the point is that there are reasons out there that influence grads of NCC to send their kids to schools other than NCC. For those in Ft. T they probably are the reasons you stated but there could be reasons for those out in the county to elect to send their kids to Brossart.
