We certainly won't take any of "your players" from the CCo system (unless they would voluntarily choose to come play at BB) but would try to keep our own kids (St. Mary and St.Joe, St. Philip, Sts. Peter and Paul) in our own program and not lose them to CCo or NCC.

 

While CCo and NCC have enjoyed a long and successful history of having players from our feeders play in their programs, the kids are actually Brossart's and not CCo's or NCC's - right?

Yes on both counts plus some play in the Ft Thomas Youth Football league.

 

IF Brossart gets football going full bore, the next logical step would be for a Brossart Junior High Football League to spring forth, operated by parties from within those feeder schools interested in seeing Brossart football grow and prosper.

I don't think that Brossart has enough feeder schools to create a league, but getting a team together for the Junior High League wouldn't be an issue.

Obviously familiar with the Red Devils program, but does NCC actually have a "program"?? I thought their players mostly came through the Red Devils or Ft. Thomas (Highlands) programs??

Like I've said earlier, very few start up programs go out and build a stadium or field; and look to rent a facility the first couple years--At least!! As Mustang accurately points out, BB is not looking to "take" anyone's players, by rather try to keep their own, and keep you from taking theirs!!!! :thumb:

 

And why would a successful 4-A program even THINK, much less be so WORRIED about a start up, single A team?? :confused:

So your saying that you voted against the levy tax, to help pay for things in the CC district. And know you want to use the CC district facilities. WOW that does not make sense to me. Its CC feild, and just for the pure reason that any more playing on the feild than their is present, will leave absoluty no grass for the CC players.

Unfortunately, in spite of owning real estate in the CC district, and thus being subject to the school tax, I do not get to vote on tax levies as I do not reside in the district. However the logic I expressed makes a lot of sense. Which was, if Anthony Strong and the school board is going to say: "please catholic tax payers we need you to support the tax increase, to pay more taxes so we can build more school buildings and facilities, and but no you can't use any of our facilities because we are a public school", I wouldn't be counting on many catholics to support the tax levy. And for the record, as some folks on here can attest, I actually supported the tax levy, thank you. I will agree with you on one point: it is unreasonable to expect CC to let BB use the field if it will ruin it for the CC players. And if that is the case, then they shouldn't let BB use it; but just understand that it may cost the CC school district a lot of the catholic vote at the ballot stations the next time the tax levy is presented to the public. I still have to believe that things can be worked out.

I would have thought the students belong to the parents that write the checks that pay the bills at your school!!

I have known Anthony Strong since he moved to this area 16 years ago. You better believe that he is going to do what is best for Campbell County Schools and its athletic program. He is reasonable, open, and willing to do what is right. I would think if anyone would ask him how he feels that you would hear, we are open to discussion, but our kids come first!!

Explain how the possibility of renting your field to a start-up JV program for a handful of games would negatively impact the Campbell program?? :confused: Can't see what the uproar is about? If Mr. Strong feels the added income would be beneficial to the school system, I'm sure he'll make the right decision; and if not, I would guess BB will have to find another field!!

Can't disagree with anything you said, which is why I believe he'll work something out with BB.

Campbell has its own freshman, JV, varsity, middle school, 5/6 grade league and a new? 3/4 grade league, with Red Devils and the band and its program. Right now quite a few games are moved to the practice field. That means adding a game when all the games scheduled cannot play on right now. That is not fair to those taxpayers. Also, this talk about taxes - I been around long enough to know the seating at the football field was not paid by taxes, nor was the sprinkler system, the scoreboard, the new field surface and the new remodel of facilities and the field prep. No taxes used at all. Saying all that, if the field can be used and not hurt the above programs, sure, why not. But I think the decision should rest with the Campbell football coach. He is the one that has to use it and his team is the one that does most of the work on it.

Time out ot. I know how that field was built also, as my brother in law, his father and brother all worked on it. And for the record, at Highlands the field (while it was grass) was in fact regularly used by the jr league and as an officer of that league for many, many years, I know that to be the case. Don't know where you got your info, but its wrong. The only, and I mean only times, we were told not to use it was when it had rained a lot or it was already scheduled for school activities. And you are wrong about the band not being able to use it also. They used it all the time, which explained why we had a tough time keeping the bermuda growing on the yard lines. Again I know this for a fact.

 

Ultimately I think it is Anthony's decision to make, but I'm sure he'll consult with Troy (and should). If you take the time to review my posts involving CC football in the past, you will know I am a big supporter of the program. I know a lot of people who have played there. Through my sister, I have a relatives that are very involved at the school system (including representation on the school board and as a teacher). And as I stated above, I only think the facilities should be shared ( with BB paying reasonable rent) if the fields can withstand the additional play. I do and will continue to disagree with Camel fans that think the facilities should not be shared because it would be helping BB out. That's childish and not in the best interest of kids wanting to play football (which is what it should be about). Finally, as someone who stuck his neck out for the tax levy and believes it is very important that it pass, I think it makes good sense that Anthony work with BB if it can be done. If that's condescending to you, we have a difference of opinion as to the definition of condescending.

I understand your point about having a grass field and what excessive play can do to the surface. I'm sure Mr. Strong will make the right decision, if it comes to that.

 

I must say I didn't realize that Campbell had that much usage on that field. I thought the band practiced primarilly in the various parking lots. Also didn't realize they had a 3-4 grade league, 5-6 grade league, middle school league or a team playing a JV schedule?? How many teams play in the grade and middle school leagues?? Do they play the Red Devils?
