June 15, 201313 yr Per Mad Dog Radio, th Bengals will be the featured team. Apparently not many teams are willing to open their camp to HBO.
June 15, 201313 yr For personal reasons, I love it. More fun to watch than it being the Dolphins or Bills or something.
June 17, 201313 yr I am excited to see this again and I will have to take the HBO plunge too for a couple of months.
June 17, 201313 yr From PFT: “The NFL Films people are totally professional,” Lewis said in the press release announcing the team’s decision to welcome Hard Knocks back to camp for the second time since 2009. “One thing I did see as a positive last time was exposing our players to another group of people who are working hard every day the way we need to work. The diligence and the effort of the people on-site is very impressive.” It’s a corollary to the story the late Steve Sabol told many times about legendary Packers coach Vince Lombardi. Lombardi actually wanted the cameras around because the cameras made the players work harder. As Sabol told it, Lombardi used to instruct the cameramen to pretend to film practice, even when their cameras were empty. The Bengals were the first Hard Knocks team to win their division. They’d surely love to be the first Hard Knocks team to make it to the Super Bowl.
June 18, 201313 yr How boring will the Bengals be? Ron Howard at QB, the world's most quiet WR, no high profile draft pick, Whitworth is probably the go-to quote guy and he is media savvy. No bombastic coach, no Tebow, = boring (good if you are a true football fan, bad for ratings).
June 18, 201313 yr I know my Jags turned down HBO. I have HBO so I will probably check out an episode or two.
June 18, 201313 yr The Bengals seemed to play much better the year that Hard Knocks was there. Did they have a better camp b/c they knew that every play at practice had the potential to go on national TV and not just the coach's office?
June 18, 201313 yr Listening to Dan Patrick a little while ago. He says if you're Jacksonville, you want them - if for nothing more than to take the focus off the inevitable horrible W-L record. If you're a real good team or on the cusp of being one, you tell them to hit the road.

June 18, 201313 yr Didn't Marvin publicly oppose this fairly recently? Yes. He can't like this. My guess is HBO offered Brown enough that he didn't care how mad it made his head coach.
