June 12, 201313 yr I quit U.S. Bank long ago because of such policies and frustrations. I never have used US Bank. Had an ex that they said overdrafted her account, she went in to deposit money to fix the issue and they refused to take it because they waited 5 days to contact her so it had overdrawn for 5 days and they were not allowed to take payment to fix the issue as it had been --sent to corporate--. (this was back before all the text and email alert stuff) was fun times when the boone co sheriff deputies showed up.

They "held" a check I deposited for a few days before it cleared. Meanwhile, some things went through and they charged me overdraft fees on it!
June 12, 201313 yr I bet your mattress doesn't have any fees. Not so fast... http://news.yahoo.com/video/termites-eat-woman-cash-life-211022519.html An elderly woman in China was given 400,000 yuan, roughly $65,000 US dollars, by her children six months ago. As reported by Chinese state television CCTV, she kept the money at home wrapped in a plastic bag and stored in a wooden drawer. The unidentified woman only noticed the money trouble in April when she went to retrieve some cash to redecorate her house. The unlucky woman got a lucky break when she took the money to a local bank that generously scanned and identified the remaining cash.

June 13, 201313 yr Some of these banks are nothing more than legalized criminals. Milking people for every last penny.
June 13, 201313 yr I used to bank with 5/3 and hated them. I am so glad they got banged for sending debit card charges through with the largest transactions first hoping they would overdraw your account so they could rack up fees. Slovenly I tell ya.
June 13, 201313 yr Author I got some documentation on the matter today. The teller yesterday had everything mixed up. It's actually not that bad, and I meet multiple exemptions, so not sure why she made such a big deal about it. Looks like I completely misread the documentation. If you have the Platinum Package, you must have a balance over $25k or a relationship with US Bank Trust Services (whatever that means), or you pay $18 or $20 per month. If you have the Gold Package, you must have a loan, line of credit, or credit card, or you pay $11 or $13 per month. If you have the Silver Package, you either have a combined monthly direct deposit over $1000 or account balance over $1500, or you pay $7 or $9 per month. It looks like I just need to downgrade to Silver.
June 13, 201313 yr 5/3rd hit me like that. I'm being charged 7 or 8 bucks I think. Something like that. I hate that if I use a non 5/3rd ATM that I get charged 3 bucks by the ATM and then another 2 bucks by 5/3rd for using a non 5/3rd ATM. It cost me a total of 10 bucks to get my own money in cash last week on vacation. Dumbest. Thing. Ever. I have to pay to get my own money? I'm happy to say, I have NEVER used an ATM machine. For that matter, I have no idea what my PIN number even is.

When I use my 5/3 debit card to get cash at non-5/3 locations, 5/3 charges me nothing and I get any other ATM charge refunded back to me.
June 14, 201313 yr Closed my account out at Fee Third today. It was just some secondary account I had in case of emergency but it wasn't worth having for a fee.

June 14, 201313 yr Good for you, I am proud, the less business people do with Fifth Third the better off this world will be. Ain't that the truth...Worst bank in the world.
June 14, 201313 yr I love Fifth Third. I have no beef with them. They are the best bank I have used in my life. I think most of you guys have better options locally than I do.
June 14, 201313 yr I love the Bank of Kentucky. Fifth/3rd customer service was HORRIBLE. Local branch was great, but if I couldn't make it to them, it was a nightmare. I was charged 2xs for a hotel room one year. I challenged the payment, and it was denied. I asked why, and they stated that it showed that I ok'd the duplicate payment? I challenged it again, and nothing happened for two weeks....they filed it under an improper heading. Called, and again, no help. I finally got to go to my local branch, problem was fixed in five minutes. I don't like companies that are too big for their own good. No personal accountability.

I love the my local Fifth Third Bank. Love the tellers and they are always ready to help when I need them. I have only had to use non-local Fifth Third support once and that was when I went to a Fifth Third ATM to get 20 bucks and the ATM never gave me the cash but it charged my account. They fixed it for me without issue. Never had to use them for anything else. You guys got me scared to death of them now. Holy crap.
