So what is the answer and how far do we let it go in other types of abuse and assault cases?

Pay special attention to the number of women who are killed by men against whom they have EPO's.

Just out of curiosity, what is the number?

I am not here to say she was right to shoot her husband. I am simply here to try and shed light on the reasons why women stay. EPO's though, are not a deterrent. And there's no pat, all inclusive answer.

When I get to work, I'll try to find time to post the links to the statistics.

There is ALWAYS two sides to every story. Unfortunately, the husband is not here to tell his.

I get RE's (and others') belief that we are a nation of laws and killing someone is illegal. I can step back and see that.

However, there is also a part of my brain that says, like Chris Rock, "but I understand."

Well put.

Maybe she tried. Maybe he threatened to find her/kill her if she left him. From the sounds of it, the cops were called more than just once and nothing ever came from it. Maybe she felt serving time and/or living in jail the rest of her life was a better alternative to having to live in constant fear that one day he'd find her if she did leave. :idunno: .

Reminds me of the Julia Roberts movie, "Sleeping with the Enemy". She left and ran, but lived in fear until .....(not going to spoil it for those who have not seen it.)

Understood, thanks. One of the toughest situations out there.

As with everything else, until you have lived it, you have no idea what it's like. It would be interesting to hear what the children have to say.

My son is graduating with the youngest child on Sunday. He is looking to get into a career in Law Enforcement per my son.

Murder is not the way to solve issues in life. Throw away the key on this savage. Unfortunately, the dead can't speak.

Wow, that is so little time for taking a life.

Agreed.

Still pales in comparison to Larry Mahoney. He killed 27 people in the Carrollton bus crash (including 24 teenagers), and only spent 10 years and 11 months in jail - not even 6 months per person.
