May 22, 201313 yr I like the fact that he's actually giving Mesoraco 2 straight starts even with Hanigan back. I think I read that Mesoraco is from Pennsylvania...so he may have more family members coming in to watch him play. I know Dusty said that was important when they were down in Florida, to get guys from there (Latos, Chapman) into those games, because they'll be pumped up to perform in front of their homeboys.

If you could get a young stud SS and a reliever with experience, maybe a starter with upside as well, I can't see why you wouldn't. Keep Choo, upgrade the offense with a SS, and replace Chapman who isn't irreplaceable.

May 22, 201313 yr Choo is only hitting .250 in May....Probably need to give it another month or so before we really figure out if resigning him is a viable option. Of course his OBP is still .422 during that span. :idunno:

May 22, 201313 yr Chapman does have 3 years left on his contact so he would be a very valuable trade piece. But I don't think it's in this clubs best interest to trade him. He gives great depth to the bullpen, but also if they are going to resign Choo I don't believe his contract factors in very much. I will say though, if they trade him it will be this off season. If they do they need to trade for a left fielder and a prospect. Because as you guys have mentioned to trade for a SS. Hamilton would fill that role. I wouldn't be opposed for them trading him for the right price.

I'm almost positive they won't with the current management, which puts a premium on defense. Most scouts have serious doubts as to whether Hamilton could ever be an adequate defensive shortstop at the big league level.
