Henry Clay's Trey Grundy Plans to Transfer

Featured Replies

Aw man...this is bad news good news. I'm happy for him and sad for myself.

Good luck, Trey!!!!

Hears this weeks ago but decided to just let it fully come out before saying anything.

I am not familiar with Hargrave, could someone provide details about it as well as how this benefits him? Thanks

Great news for Ballard, Hoptown, Holmes, Trinity, PRP and Knott County Central.

I was thinking Henry Clay could win it all next season. He might have gotten more exposure with a run to Rupp Arena but have to support the kid. Hope he does well there.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if his childhood friends and teammates (Green and Cunningham) follow right along. I've known these 3 since 3rd grade and typically when you see one you'll find at least one of the other ones if not both. Best of luck to Tre' and hope it all works out.

Wow. Does this transfer take HC out of the discussion for best team in the state, leaving Ballard and Holmes alone?

I wondered the same about the others leaving.

Why Hargrave Military and not Huntington Prep or Oak Hill or Monteverde? How does the prep system work? Can he just say I want to go there and then go? How good is Hargrave?

This stinks for KY basketball.

Hargrave is coach by former Scott County standout A.W. Hamilton. They are very good. Jake handshoe of Montgomery was there last year. Pretty much all their kids play college ball somewhere. Two of last years kids will play at Louisville next year and they seem to have a pipeline going to Louisville, where Hargrave former coach is now a Pitino assistant.

I believe Grundy is going there for renewed discipline. I expect others to depart from there, but not necessarily Cunningham and Green, although I heard rumblings about Cunningham that are now probably gone with Happy going to KY Wesleyan.

Good luck to Trey. Sky's the limit for that kid, but I do believe this is a step in the right direction for his overall growth as a player.

I would think it has a impact.

I watched Hargrave once this year. They play a fun style of basketball. AW is a good coach and gets a lot out of his kids. Good luck to Grundy as he makes this move.

I've heard alot of talk about Snider from Ballard being next. Kids think they will get exposure and better college opportunities at Prep school. Snider has already committed to UofL. Not sure why he would need to unless his committment is soft. Heard they are not happy with UofL recuriting more guards. The kid out of Seattle is evidently a guard a 6'8.
