That said, and what JA is saying, is that for years now all we have heard is that the B1G, and midwestern players in general, is inferior to the SEC, slow and not physical enough. That is directed at the top programs, generally OSU, Michigan, and Wisky. OSU and Michigan, per the Media and everywhere else, would be mid level at best SEC teams. Now Stoops is coming in and getting players that to this point dont warrant offers from those two, and he is somehow going to compete in the best conference in America? Simply doesnt add up, cant have it both ways. Recruiting a Mich St roster can lead to success when you play Indiana, Iowa, and Purdue. Not so convinced it can work in the SEC. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. Agree but I think we are getting an upgrade with talent than what we had....Period!!! I will take it...
June 12, 201313 yr I see your point and UK is doing great at selling the SEC brand. But I think they'd be better off selling it to the 1-3 guys who are SEC athletes. I'm in Ohio and haven't seen Bama, UF, Georgia, LSU, Vandy, Ole Miss camping state wide coincidence or not? You don't have to camp out in Ohio for what is already in your backyard.

I hope I'm wrong, I really do. All I'll say is I'll take the players this staffs been bringing in over any recruiting Kentucky has ever had. I don't think anyone is saying they are going to be title contenders, it is Kentucky you know. I would much rather have some Ohio 4* and high 3* players as opposed to 2* and low 3* star players who were "overlooked", "under recruited", and who have a lot of "potential". As I've said before, this is way better than the ole diamonds in the rough recruiting philosophy of staffs prior. Also to the point he is only getting Ohio kids. Most of the class is from Ohio yes. But they also have a commitment from a 4* from KY, with the possibility of adding another one and high 3* or 4* in Nacarious Fant. They also have two 4* commits (depending on scouting service) from Florida, as well as recruits from the still strong Georgia pipeline. So in summary it's not just Ohio kids, they are still getting their share of in state, Florida, and Georgia players as well. They are also trying to get into Texas and are hot after a few recruits down there. Hoping Chad Scott and Neal Brown's time at TT can help them out there.
June 12, 201313 yr Author This is all I will say and maybe someone can add on to it. For years and years UK would have recruiting class after recruiting class with zero or one or two Ohio guys. I think we can all agree that the state of Ohio is one of the best at producing talent. Where Kentucky geographicly sits, to only come away with 1-2 Ohio players is a tragedy. UK should be able to go into Ohio and sell the SEC brand and be able to pluck 6-8 Ohio guys per class. I'm just really excited that door is finally open! :thumb:

June 12, 201313 yr On this topic I do... I watched Tressel grab mainly Ohio guys for years. UK is doing great but with the conference they're in they have to penetrate the south more. Baby steps.
June 12, 201313 yr Baby steps. Well that is cool, Ohio can def provide some stop gap players and if UK can invade the south like Louisville did with the state of Florida, then you guys are legit. I do understand Ohio players are better than what UK has had in recent years, it's just the SEC speed that concerns me. But hey hopefully, it turns into a rich mans problem for you all to solve.
