Some of the 10th region's schools are probably going to be a different team then last year, like some of the weaker schools maybe a contender, and some of the tough schools may not do as good as some expect, due to mostly graduation, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Yes sir it will be interesting next year for the 10th Region. The top three are inter-changable IMO. Those top three will be Clark Co., Mason Co., and Bishop Brossart. I would also look for Pendleton to plead their case in this region as well even though they will be hit hard by graduation this year. Another team to throw into the mix would be Montgomery Co. however I am not familar with what they return.

Another item where major camps and tourneys are playing a role is the "national rankings" such as rivals, hoopscoop, and more. These kids are being more weighted on by their camp and tourney play than their high school play in most instances. Top talent is playing against other top talent and players can be critiqued on head-to-head performances.

 

I have some national rankings for the class of 2008, 2009, and 2010 with some Kentucky players. Am I allowed to post those on here???

Will MMI return to compete in the 10th region sometime or what is up with their situation, I remember playing them every year since I've been in school and sometimes they would have a pretty good squad. I understand they're thinking about changing the name of the school.

The 11th and 7th are strongest and the 14th, 15th and 16th are the weakest with the 8th and 13th right behind them.

When I 1st started reading the thread I thought it was asking about the regions historically. The more I read it seems to be dealing with the past season. The 9th region this past year was probably in the top half. But then history kicks in and our representative bows out in the 1st round of the sweet 16. Does any one have overall sweet16 records of each region since the state has been in the current championship format. Is there any region that has not won the championship or even not made it to the finals. I am going to guess that the 9th is not in the top half when it comes to the sweet 16. I may be wrong, but it seems that we think we have good teams to represent the region, but rarely advance past the 1st or 2nd rounds. I'd love to see breakdown of each regions success at the sweet 16. I think that is how the regions should ranked.

I saying you never know who will have the best year going in, someone may tranfer from another school or a kid nobody paid much attention to may have a good year and that DOES happen.

There is a lot of great young talent in the 16th. There is zero young talent in the rest of the state. No young talents in the 13th, 11th, 6th, and 7th regions.

I believe there are a few strong "talents" in the 11th.

Bryan Station - Morones

Madison Central - Simpson

Scott County - Phares

Lafayette - Barber

There's more...Marquis Grisson (Bryan Station), Taylor Botkins (Lexington Catholic), Cameron Mattingly (|oodford County) and even CJ Penny (8th Region Anderson County). 6th and 7th goes on and on Cameron Clemons (Doss), TJ Gaines (Fern Creek), Jacob Jenkins (Manual), Deuce Finch (St. Xavier), Wes Cox (Ballard), Jamar Kirksey (Trinity), Ridge Wilson (Central), and more...

 

These guys would all played and started varsity as frosh in the 16th Region.

Averaging the top 8 teams in each region from this week's Cantrell's Ratings, this is how they rank.

I wouldn't base a sack of dog food on the Cantrell ratings. You can have a team that is 28-0 and they'll be rated 4th in their region behind teams that are 14-12.

If the 28-0 team has been beating up on the bottom feeders of the world to get that record, while the 14-12 team is playing against the toughest competition in the state, I would rate the 14-12 team higher as well if the two teams haven't played each other. There's more to the equation than just wins and losses. I watched a 20-win district champion get beat by 50 in the region tournament by a team with a 14-11 record. How'd that happen?

I would rate Cantrell's ratings right up there with some other great ideas, like the BCS standings.
