I heard Austin Newton is the EKU asst who has expressed interest. Just rumor. No solid info.

Austin Newton and Phil Rison have spoke once about the position. Newt's references are Travis Ford, Kelly Wells, Happy Osborne and Tim Davis. Apparently, Travis Ford called MCHS recommending Newt for the job. Hard to believe he hasn't gotten an interview yet. He has been involved in Division 1 basketball since 2001 (EKU & UMass). Newt has worked for Jeff Neubauer at EKU for the last 6 years.

If that is accurate, I assume it would dictate a significant change in playing style/pace for Montgomery Co. You would go from a team that finished 3rd in the state in scoring to a coach who's team was probably in the top 20 in the state in scoring defense, and led the state the year before.

Thacker withdrew name because he found out he was third on the list behind Goodin and Holland.

Supposedly Thacker may have jumped back in once Goodin was not all keen on the job.

Montgomery has more talent in the system. There are also rumors of the Oldhams being moved to a Louisville region next realignment. That would effect the Oldham job.
