If I'm applying for a job at Montgomery Co. HS, I'm worried about impressing 3 people: the Principal, the AD and maybe the Superintendent. I don't care what Joe Bob down at the bank thinks about me. Just my opinion.

 

Like Happy didn't campaigned for it at Montgomery...did that leave a bad taste to the folks in MC athletics that matter? Like Happy didn't hold the system hostage he negotiated his salary and his wife's! Did that leave a bad taste in MC athletics that matter? He was aggressive and did what he had to do for himself. Did it leave a bad taste to the ones that matter in MC athletics how Tony Wise was treated and pushed out the door? WOW!!! LOL!!!! The Superintendent and AD will make this hire like they did the last one period. If I'm a Superintendent and want a Coach I believe Coach Starns would be on my radar regardless of what others think, he's been there done that and has experience and is a proven winner that's the bottom line!!

I do agree jahearme.. That is how it should be.. But thats not how things are working no more.. It always comes down to who you know. Now and days its John and Jane doe that have the pull. again should be like that but it is... both are valid points

I wouldnt pick Starns... plus he as a Stacked team coming back.. be silly to leave.. Im not sure were i would go with this..

There are politics invovled in coaching no 2 ways about it and if you don't think so you're mistaken. That Joe Bob that works at a bank you mention walks into school with enough political clout and complains to the right ones to get you fired or pull monies from programs, I believe you would change you thinking on that subject real quick! Just IMO! Sounds like he was doing the and making right moves to me.

So you really think Happy campaigned for the MC job a year ago? You don't think the admin. of MC had anything to do with going out and getting him? I might be totally in the dark on this. Please enlighten me if I am.

Again, Coach Starns is a great guy. I've known him for a long time. I just don't think he will be hired at Montgomery Co.

I dont think he will be hired either.. Why would he leave a team he could go back to state with..... Just saying Happy did not campaigned for the MOCO position mt thoughts on that.

That's who I was going to say. I think thacker will be MOCO next head coach. He's a good fit and a really good coach. I feel sorry for any coach that goes there BC of the administration

That Happy was staying for 1 year. Only the parents, fans and players were convinced that. Happy would be back. Happy was brought in for one reason and one reason only and that was to coach Omar Pruitt and get him to the Sweet 16. The AD will not have a say so in who will be hired just like he didn't when Happy was hired. Phil Rison will do the hiring and it will be him alone who makes the hire. Hundley would be my first call and he would come in a minute if they pay him anywhere close to what they paid Happy. Rison will get the best coach available and I'm sure he will get a good one. They need to send all the assistants packing. They were just a waste of space all 15 of them.

Thacker nor Hundley will go there. It is not a high profile job. There are lots of good things in place but from what I hear the inner workings of the administration and parents will not allow normalcy to happen. Good luck to them and their new coach.

Hundley would leave and would't think twice if he was offered the ,only Happy made. Jones and Pruitt both are gone so is the 10th Region going to be down again next season. MC may win the region again but I doubt it.

Hundley has already said no as well he should. Montgomery Co is not a step up from Woodford Co and no one wants to work for that administration...so it seems.

If you think the parents of the studs and the bigger boosters(local business owners) in the community don't have a dog in the fight, then you are blind. I'm not saying this is right, i'm just saying this is the world we live in.

Thacker would be a perfect fit. He can be an assistant principal and his son would make the indians a favorite to repeat in the 10th. That is if everybody returns next year.
