I also heard three candidates, but I heard Thacker Holland and Jason Hinson. I have said it before and will say it again-- Jason Hinson would be a perfect fit.

According to my source interviews will start next week. Heard there were many applicants.

Why would he not be a candidate? 10th region coach of the year, at Augusta. Has that ever happened?

Coach Goodin was a player and longtime assistant at Georgetown College before leaving for Doss a few years back. KC is a GREAT coach and even better person.

 

He has turned around the program at Doss.

 

Montgomery would do well to hire him and I bet he comes with a STRONG recommendation from Happy.

Thanks for the info!!! Is Doss the only head job he has had? Record while there, ect? Style of play?

I do believe Doss is the only head coaching job he has had. He served as an assistant for Happy for a while then stepped right into a head coaching spot at Doss.

 

He is 45-41 in 3 years, but that record is deceiving. He inherited a team that was 4-23 in 2009/10 and they gradually improved. 9-17 his first season, 17-13 second season (made region) and 19-11 last year (losing to eventual winner PRP at region).

 

I've only seen them a handful of times since I live in the western part of the state, but they averaged slightly over 63 PPG this year.

 

I am admittedly biased because I know KC, but he is a great coach who demands (and gets) the best out of his players. He would be a great hire at Montgomery, but if he is back at Doss next year, I expect them to be top 2/3 in the 6th next year.

Thanks for the info. That really is impressive as we all know how much talent is in the 6th region. Where did he go to high school? Did he play college ball...G-Town?

I believe Goodin was an assistant at Louisville Western for a little while too.

Played at LaRue Co.

Was PG on the NAIA championship team at Gtown in 1998. He transferred to Gtown but I can't remember where he went to college first. Maybe Carson-Newman but I can't swear that is correct.

Because he is not interested. Grass isn't always greener and probably doesn't want to work at a funny farm.
