OKC bombing was easy to make a Federal case, it was a Federal building. I guess this one will have to invoke some clause from the Patriot Act or some other National Security Act.

 

I could not care less about this guys rights, however I do care about my rights and the rights of my children and some day the rights of my children's children. As stated above this is a very very slippery slope.

Nationality does not equal terrorism...the act does that...if anyone is questioning weather this was terrorism or not then you need to check your politics at the door and call this what it was...an act of terrorism. Had this been some redneck that supports the second amendment it would have been called domestic terrorism, the fact that these punks were born over seas and then lived here for years does not matter. What does matter is the act and the reason they committed that act.

Heard a guy mention that with the war on terror the definition of enemy combatant has been expanded as we are not at war with a nation. Thus a tie to a country does not need to be established but only a tie to an ideology combined with a terrorist act.

Let me preface the following with the fact that I'm not well-versed on law.

 

What is the definition of a "terrorist act?"

 

If it's deemed a "terrorist act" by an American citizen does he/she lose his rights?

 

We can all get into a semantics debate about "terrorism." I'm talking about legalities. Do the actions meet the requirements to suspend rights given to US citizens?

Let's say the previously stated "redneck" blows up a church and kills/injures 100 people. Does he lose his rights to due process? Does he lose his Constitutional rights? That's the only question I have. Feel free to call these acts anything you wish. It doesn't change anything legally as far as I can tell.

If the suspects were operating under a bigger organization than just them, They are terrorists and have committed war acts against the US and should be treated as war criminals. Now if it just was these, as uncle Ruslan said, 'losers', or just 2 guys who wanted to cause mass panic then they should be given all of their rights, just like gun violence.
