Does Harvard give out full rides for Football? Was watching a Jemery Lin story and it mentioned that Harvard b-ball doesn't give scholarships.

Congrats to the young man. I am great friends with Conner Hempel (Ryle) and his family who also plays there and he fully enjoys it. Should he choose this path I am sure he will enjoy it as well and Flotsam put it, a degree from Harvard is almost like a license to print money lol. Glad to see some other offers coming for other NKY players even if it is Ivy league.

 

I talked to Conner last spring and he does enjoy it but it's a different college experience than the typical experience. It's not for everyone.

Congrats to Seth! The Ivys' financial aid system can result in grant/scholarship packages (for all students, not just athletes) that can nearly meet a full-ride offer elsewhere, and can be worth much more four years later. The hurdle is just getting in. This says quite a bit about Seth's academic chops. Well earned!

In other words, this young man's financial obligation will be the same as every other student admitted to Harvard ... based on FAFSA/family income/etc.? What does a year at Harvard cost now? Got to be more than 60 grand tuition/room/board.

Heard Seth was at the Blue/White game last Saturday at UK and was seen talking to someone from UC this week in the cafeteria.

I read he had 20.5 sacks last year 5 in the state final.

True that Ivy League schools do not offer athletic rides BUT he will given plenty of financial aid for academics and more than likely enough to cover most if not all of the financial obligation. Trust me I know players at Ivy League schools who go this route and pay little to nothing. Conner Hempel is a prime example. Don't hate on the young man just because its an Ivy League school.

Correct. My understanding is they look at the family income and come up with a figure that says "here's what you should be able to come up with." The rest is covered . That's not just for athletes. That's all students.
