I'd say outcoached in the sense Wichita State controlled tempo for a large majority of the game. Just couldn't sustain it when it mattered most...

April 7, 201313 yr Author Wichita State begged Louisville to beat them from behind the three point line. They started 4/16 up to the 14 minute mark. They then hit 5 of their last 9. By way of comparison, Wichita State started 3/7 from behind the arc, and then hit only 3 of their last 13 attempts. Challenging the Cards to hit threes instead of drives and taking care of the ball seemed to be the cornerstones of the Shocker game plan. The three point plan worked out great for a long time, and then it didn't. And Wichita State turned the ball over 4 times in the first 32 minutes of the game before turning it over 6 times afterwards. Cards took the game from them.

April 7, 201313 yr All lf you guys can jump on me if you want to but I have to say that the call towards the end was key and was a terrible call, they imo made the call too quick and there was no tie up that I saw. Possession went to the Cards and the game was basically over. That call may not have cost WSU the game, they were two points down at the time but I certainly would rather they let it play out to see what would happen. I actually thought that they could have just as easily called a foul on UL just as easy as they called what they did. That no call imo sums up a season of bad officiating in all of college basketball.
April 7, 201313 yr Good game plan for Wichita. Tried to take too much time off the clock down the stretch. Credit Louisville, they played awful in stretches and came away with a win.

April 7, 201313 yr The call they really blew was the no call on Van Treese. By rule, that is a flagrant 1 foul. They've called it all season and didn't even review this one. The biggest mistake by Wichita State was fouling Dieng when he had the ball late. I agree on both points.

Obviously, they'd have liked to have that chance. Of course, Louisville may have fouled them and not even given them a shot.
April 7, 201313 yr If it was his elbow it would have been a flagrant. His hands were flailing because he was tackled. That's incidental contact and a double foul... My opinion after watching it live was that it was an intentional palm to the face but I'm going to rewind and take another look.

April 7, 201313 yr Down 3 points, and no doubt Pitino would have had his team foul, and not let the Shockers get off a 3 point shot. It was three, my mistake and Pitino may have had them foul but I would had rather let that play out than a whistle.
