April 7, 201313 yr HUGE thanks to Luke Hancock for leaving George Mason; without him, we lost this one. No doubt that he took this game in to his hands.
April 7, 201313 yr Author Turning point of the game to me was right after the game got to the 12 point margin. Wichita State went to the line for a 1 and 1 with 13:15 left in the game to continue to extend the lead. Airballed the front end. Come down the other end, Tim Henderson allowed to shoot a wide open three and buried it. Wichita State comes down, gets another 1 and 1. Miss. Tim Henderson with another wide open three, buried it. Now it's a 6 point game and WSU never led by more than 8 again, and that was just once. It was only a couple of minutes after that that UL's pressure finally got to Wichita State, and then that was that.

April 7, 201313 yr Congrats to the BGP / UL fans. UL was the better basketball team but imo got outplayed as well as outcoached in this one. L. Hancock stepped up big in this one for UL along with a couple of other UL reserves. The depth of Louisville was the key in this one.
April 7, 201313 yr Wichita State was tough as nails as they have been through the whole tournament; I knew the Cards were in for a challenge, but I didn't expect them to be as challenged as they were. Wichita's plan couldn't have been much better; if it was they would be the winners.
April 7, 201313 yr Been saying for about 10 days now the Shockers were for real and had a legit shot to win the whole thing. Much like every other UL opponent over the last two months, the pressure eventually got to them and they made too many critical mistakes in the final 8 minutes. As for the two calls that have Twitter melting down, I thought both were the proper calls by the rule book...

As for the two calls that have Twitter melting down, I thought both were the proper calls by the rule book... The call they really blew was the no call on Van Treese. By rule, that is a flagrant 1 foul. They've called it all season and didn't even review this one. The biggest mistake by Wichita State was fouling Dieng when he had the ball late.

The biggest mistake by Wichita State was fouling Dieng when he had the ball late. If it was his elbow it would have been a flagrant. His hands were flailing because he was tackled. That's incidental contact and a double foul...
