Is he a credible source?:stop::D

Financial needs for his family. Public school vs. private school. State retirement plan vs. whatever you can save in private school. You see this happening more and more often.

On top of the VOR's answers I'll give you two more:

1.Holmes

2.CovCath

If NCC couldn't get out of the region with it's teams from the last 3 seasons.........You can finish that sentence how you want.

Great coach and way to look out for the "man in the mirror".

Good luck to him!

Don't we all have to do that? I don't see how anyone can fault Brannen on this. He has a family to take care of first and foremost.

I really give the WV administration credit here. From what I've heard they were incredibly dead-set on making a big splash on hiring a Head Coach. I don't know how many applicants they had, but they pursued Grant Brannen and did what it took to get him to leave the only place he's ever known. Put yourself in Grant's shoes - he's grown up in that gym. First, when his brother John was at Newcath he would've been 8-11 years old. Following the team around, rooting for them, wearing their colors. Then he grows up and plays in that same program, with the same pride he had while watching his brother. After that he comes back as an assistant under two separate head coaches before getting the job himself. That's 20-23 years of bleeding blue & gold and knowing nothing else. Could you imagine that comfort zone? To leave that position after being a good steward of the program would take a lot. Having not talked to him I'm certain the money was the end all, but I truthfully don't know. However, I give him incredible kudos for having the guts to do what he had to do, as hard as it probably was.

With that said, Congrats to Grant Brannen on the job. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

I wonder if this was just the right job at the right time. Good school district. Nice place to raise the kids. NOT IN THE NINTH REGION, so he doesn't have to go against "his school" but still in N. Ky. This strikes as as one of those right place, right time decisions.

Former walton Coach Dan Trame - New Walton coach Grant Brannen.... Both quality coaches, quality family men. What is going to make the difference in the eyes of the fanatic fans of Walton....AKA (parents)...?

He would have a much greater chamce to win the Ninth Region next year and in the fuure than he will ever winning the Eighth at WV.

My apologies for the spelling. Daggone phone posting!

Stunner. I didn't follow the thread on the WV vacancy very closely. Anyone see this coming? This had to shock the NCC faithful, didn't it? Mexitucky? Lawnboy?

This came from WAY out of leftfield!!! However, I think Grant was looking to better his family's future from a financial standpoint, and I don't blame him. I'm sure it was a very difficult decision to leave the "hill". I wish him nothing but the best and hope he brings the same success to Walton as he did with the Breds.

I know my daughter will miss him, said she really enjoyed his class.

Wow, very surprised with this news. Good luck to coach Brannen, one of the best coaches in the area. I wish him nothing but the best and much success at WV. Walton fans have to be very happy with this hire. Good luck to all involved.

Give it time. Walton fans have a knack.

My phone as been so busy the last 3 hours I'm down to one bar of battery life. :lol2:

This situation is one of the more interesting ones I've heard in a while. Weird "other" factors in play.

WV supposedly will officially announce it tomorrow at noon.
