March 15, 201313 yr I think his financial "demands" priced him out of the free agent market before FA got started. The Bengals knew it which is why they have played their cards this way with Smith. If you are the Bengals, how would you play this with Smith. Would you pay a little extra on a short term deal to get him under contract? Or would you use this market leverage, try to get a longer contract and hope he becomes a top tackle that you have on the cheap on the back side of the deal?
March 15, 201313 yr Author Taking the risk! I like it, and agree. Plus, the Bengals have too many big contracts coming up the next couple of years to have to fool with Smith again too.
March 21, 201313 yr The name of this thread is "Bengals Free Agent Moves". It should have been a thread with no entries.
March 22, 201313 yr This thread alone has more posts than the Bengals have in offseason moves the past 20 years combined.
March 22, 201313 yr Plus, the Bengals have too many big contracts coming up the next couple of years to have to fool with Smith again too. They have 3 big contracts they have to make, AJ Green, Dunlap and Geno......Dalton should not be a big contract unless he has a great year this year. If he has another year like this last one he can be given his walking papers if you ask me.
March 22, 201313 yr Who the hell is that. Was a backup for the Browns last year. Started 5 gams with the Bucs.
March 22, 201313 yr He is a mobile QB. Basically nothing like Dalton unless we're planning an out dated Wildcat.
