March 24, 201313 yr One thing to remember, that if healthy, Kirkpatrick is like a new addition. True. Hopefully he can get on the field.
March 25, 201313 yr Author From Bengals.com today: The Bengals come into the week hoping to wrap up their final two free-agent priorities in right tackle Andre Smithand cornerback Terence Newman and it looks like they may be in the home stretch of getting them resolved either way. Over the weekend the Patriots agreed to terms with right tackle Sebastian Vollmer and Smith agent Ben Dogra, which would appear to open the door for a deal. Also, Sunday night Newman tweeted he's looking to finalize a deal, although he didn't say if it's in Oakland or Cincinnati. After he agreed to his contract earlier in the week, cornerback Adam Jones said he thought Newman was headed back.

March 30, 201313 yr Author From Bengals.com Terence Newman has said he wanted to play for a contender and Mike Zimmer. In the end, it had to be Cincinnati and Newman tweeted as such late Friday night after reaching what is believed to be a two-year deal in the $5 million range with $3 million in 2013. And from Newman's twitter account via PFT: “After much time and thought, I’m heading back to Cincy. And for those of you who think it was about money, the Raiders offered more,” Newman wrote. “I came in with Mike Zimmer and feel its only right that I leave as him coaching me. Thanks to Raiders Nation for showing me such love.”

March 31, 201313 yr So can anyone explain to me how the Bengals improved themselves through free agency? Browns and Ravens are doing it right.
March 31, 201313 yr Author So can anyone explain to me how the Bengals improved themselves through free agency? I don't think that can be answered until after the draft.
March 31, 201313 yr I don't think that can be answered until after the draft. Sure it can. i asked about free agency, not the offseason. Every team improves after the draft. Bottomline, when you only re-sign players already on your team and don't get any players from elsewhere that could start for your team and make an impact, then the answer is no, you did not improve your team. You can't improve your team with players already on your team.

However a team can improve by retaining their players if said players get better.
