Trust me on this Guru, when they get older and I am speaking out of HS now, for whatever reason, you Dad get a whole lot smarter!

I am not worried about it being my son. Just having fun because he is delivery boy and this is another example I will use for him. The example I will tell him is that know matter what he does I WILL find out!! Especially when you can come to the BGP Nation and find out just about anything.

I live out in Independence. I'm on the north side, so I'm not out in rural Independence. I live around 3 miles from 2 particular pizza places, and around 5 from the same ones in a different direction. All 4 used to deliver to us. Now, none of the branches will deliver to me as I'm out of their service area. If a certain manager is at one, she will deliver as she doesn't want to pass up the business. However, I'm a 10 minute drive from these places, but I'm considered out of their range. We generally pick-up our pizza orders, but when you're having company over, it's nice to be able to pre-order and not have to leave during the party.

 

Used to have that problem many years ago when I still ate Pizza Hut. I'm about midway betwen one in Newport and one in Highland Heights, maybe 6 minutes either way. Would be like pulling teeth to get one delivered as they each would try to send me to the other. That's when we became Larosa fans.

Guru, sort of disappointed you won't name the pizza joint, one of the best features of bgp is sharing the good and the bad from local places.

The phrase "pizza joint" used earlier seems very on point. No way I accept that delivery, nor would I allow any pizza delivery person inside my home. Pre pay tip, open door, grab pizza and say thanks, done. And DD, your son would not only be allowed inside he may even share a slice or two of the pizza.

Not pizza related, but I was having a few people over a couple weeks ago and stopped by KFC

and ordered 50 wings for the festivities. I ordered them at the drive thru pull to the window paid

and they responded it would be 10-15 minutes no problem as I had to run right down the street and

pickup some extra beer. I come back to the restaraunt walk inside and tell the guy at the counter I had

already ordered and paid for the wings. He must have the same supplier as Guru's pizza man because this

totally puzzled the young man; after asking twice what I had ordered he proceeded to ring it up again... I

was just about to lose it when he turns to hand me the wings and I notice his name tag has assistant manager

beside his name. After handing me the wings he tried to ring them up again... SMH as I see a sign that says

help wanted on my way out the door.

My crazy story was about a year ago when I called a Pizza joint in Ft Thomas and placed an order. About 50 mins went by and I called them to find out when the driver would be here. The guy told me 20 mins......Okay another 20 mins went by and still no pizza. So I call back and a girl answers Domino's pizza. I pause for a moment only to realize that I didn't call Domino's in the first place to order the pizza. I couldn't believe it! So still no pizza so I called back to get the manager. I told him first that the girl answered the phone by the wrong name and his exact words were...."No she didn't"...LOL! So after all of the confusion, I find out that there wasn't even a order in the first place. That's crazy..... So how did they know when my pizza was going to be there? The manager literally begged me not to call corporate and told me my next order was on them...We were laughing our butts off that night. I was calling back just to make the situation that much more confusing!

Back in the day when Dominoes still had the 30 mins or free thing going on we had fun with it. I had my wife and son with me plus my two brothers were there so my Dad bought pizza for everyone. He ordered his 3 pizza's and waited for the driver. He shows up 45 mins later. The driver told my Dad that they were slammed. My Dad called all the neighbors and told them to buy pizza and that if it wasn't free he would pay for it. He paid for nothing the whole night.
