Did they really? Last I checked Christian County went 14 and 1 that year, so how did Mayfield defeat them? I am really interested to hear this one.

So if I read that correctly, Christian County won the 4A title that year with a record of 14-1. And you are saying that the loss was to Mayfield? I will tell you with 100% certainty that you would be wrong. Go back and look again and let me know what you find out. The team that won 3A that year was and would still be the overall state champ in 1982. First team in state of Kentucky to win 15 games and the first from the state of Kentucky to be ranked in the final USA Today top 25 poll. I guess this answers the question of at least one state title that the Birds would have won irregardless of classification.

I think that record is incorrect unless after the fact wins were taken away for some reason. Your document says they were 10-3 and the other document referenced would indicate they went 14 and 1. Perhaps someone from Christian County could clue us in.

I played the year they were state champs and we beat them. I still recall at the end of the year being suprised we beat the 4A champ. After the Super Bowl I will find info on it

Ty mexi, that was my point. NKY was a toss up in 10. I'm not saying in any way that NCC beats trinity that year, I will say the same for Ryle and highlands not being close. The problem with highlands ppl is always the same. They all think their crap don't stink, well I got news for u, it does. I know we can't speak about certain things on on this site, but someone tell me the last school in NKY that had to forfeit games for playing an illegal player? Just to clear this up, I'm no NCC pusher. I happen to think with what I do, I have some direct knowledge on NKY football. I'm a Lloyd grad and my senior year we beat highlands and knocked them from the playoffs. They were the defending 3A champs, so suck it. I'm telling u HHS people this, as bad as it hurts to hear, NCC absolutely was good enough to beat that team in 10. Deal with it. Get off your high horses. What I said about dale is absolutely true about wanting and not wanting to play. He's no dummy. Why you think he keeps dodging trinity. Don't give me, we'll we scrimmaged them, lol. First of all let me say Toothpick that after reading my initial post it could have been taken the wrong way and that was not my intent. I wasn't questioning your story just wondered what the deal was. If it offended, I'm sorry.

 

Looking up on the HHS History site: Highlands Bluebirds - Game Results

 

they have listed Highlands winning in an early season bowl game against Christian County 23-13. I have no doubt that your recollection is genuine it just seems that somewhere someone misreported the Colonels record that season. Would love to hear the back story on it.

What Toothpick is likely thinking of is from the 1984 matchup, which Mayfield did win, one of two losses in Christian County's 12-2 year, also a state championship finish.
