Not at all, if you'll remember there was some strong debate about the two after they both won big in the finals. Since comparative scores have been posted on here Mayfield handled Beechwood easily by 24 at Beechwood while NCC lost to Beechwood at home. Where's the silliness? Do you think NCC would have beaten Central or Boyle Co that year? I certainly don't.

I believe that they could have beaten Central. Boyle w/ Dawson and the other LB, not to mention their RB, probably not. However, they had the size to compete and the defense to play with anyone not named Trinity and St. X. The Beechwood game was an aberration, but it proves that they weren't more talented than other good teams to the point that they could just show up and win. I watched as much of Highlands as I did NewCath in '10 due to my boys not having the good sense to like NewCath and my cousin being a senior on the '10 team. I saw two comparable skill sets, especially with Compton being out for so long. Pat Towles was not the Towles of '11. It was either a bomb or a screen. His intermediate game wasn't consistent. NewCath had problems tackling in space, which would hurt them against the screen. On the flip side, their style of offense is the one that gives H's defense fits. The offense was based off of the dive and Kelly running behind Thacker and the rest of the line would have been effective against Highlands. My point is, NewCath could have played w/ Highlands and they could have played against anyone and held their own. They also showed enough signs of inconsistency to say that they could have been a fringe #10-15 team. As I stated earlier, they were a Top 10 team. #5-6 at very best. I do not think that you were giving them enough credit.

I take back what I said about CCH earlier in this thread. We would have seven state championships if all of the classes were combined. The six that we won, then one more for good measure.

Nothing! What's that have to do with this football thread? I don't think we talk too much over on the basketball thread, except about what we can do to get better because they are struggling.

I could go on about the blown calls or the fact we got to the game about 30 mins before kickoff or the fact the field was a mud bath and it hadn't rained in the area for weeks lol, but that would sound like sour grapes. And no, obviously we didn't win state, but HHS didn't either, but at least we had a chance.

Thats a joke about ncc, that 2010 team could have won it in any division with the exception of 6A that year. And i think that would be close.

Did they really? Last I checked Christian County went 14 and 1 that year, so how did Mayfield defeat them? I am really interested to hear this one.
