Make that three of us!! Kevin does a lot for many of the programs and students. He swallowed Mr. Microphone when he was little and better yet he has the vision to watch both end zones at the same time! LOL So much for his big guys hate to bend joke ( yours truly)

I think you may have forgotten the school's mission. The broadcasting program at Highlands is a part of their Capstone program in which students are learning at an accelerated pace and receiving collegiate credit for their work. I expect you will be genuinely surprised with the quality of the production.

 

 

The football program deserves an announcer with legitimate PA experience and there are good candidates, who have given much time and energy to the school teams, who have expressed interest in the position and deserve a shot at it before making it another student experiment. There is no reason this broadcasting program can't gain valuable experience and give back to the community by working the FTJFL, Freshman and JV games. I'll have to throw my support behind Mr. Nieporte as well. He does a great job with the Thursday and Saturday games.

Ron Siry is the announcer that is retiring.

He will be deeply missed. Friday nights will not be the same at Highlands. He has been announcing for 53 years and has had a wonderful career as a college professor at the University of Cincinnati. I believe he recently was awarded the NKADA Distinguished Service Award for his service as an announcer and scorekeeper. Thanks for all your years of service. I hope they were as rewarding to you as it was to those who had the pleasure of listening to you on Friday nights.

Mr. Siry was my eighth grade English teacher at Highlands.

Hats off to HHS fans. Not many teams can pull off a 2-page PA thread.

I wonder if Mr Siry will officially pass the torch today and make an announcement of who will be replacing him at the Daleathon...

What the heck do you do for 7 hours? Oops ... sorry for asking here. We probably should start another thread.

 

Staying on topic, congrats to Mr. Siry. Think about all he has seen in his time as PA announcer. He should write a book.
