CovCath JV won in OT

55-54 as both teams missed free throw chances to put the game away or to win it.

HHS JV insisted on full court press the entire game - got about 2 or 3 steals -- gave up about 15-18 layups.

HHS JV stayed in the game by getting a lot of second chance points

I thought Bailey Witte played his best game of the season tonight.

Bailey plays his best game and Birds lose by 40.

Yuk.

It goes without saying that the game for the Birds was indeed ugly. Even though they've had their ups and downs so far this year, I thought for sure that they'd have the talent that could give the Colonels a much better game. Guess not. I've been impressed with CovCath this year, but this game gave me an even deeper respect for them in how they executed their feisty pesky defense. They're relentless. They just frustrated the holy crap out of the Birds so much that it could explain (with no justification) how one of their players cracked with his composure and slammed Schue into the wall earning him a big 'T'. It's a dang good thing that he wasn't hurt as it was just an inch away from being much uglier. Anyhow, I can just imagine how painful it must've been for the Highlands faithful to watch their beloved Bluebirds have so very little opportunity tonight to get into any kind of groove and execute anything. Of course the appearance of a team's strength has a lot to do with the weakness of their opponent, but Birds or not, I really think that the Colonels have quickly grown more solid since their two tough outings of last week.

Wow good thing!!! Would the PHM had put a hit out him or something...LOL

Relax friend, Blueboys got a win they deserved and work harder for...

TOG- what were the shooting % for both teams? Id say Colonels shot over 50% from the field easy.

Talk about a poor press, over commit to the front half and watch the transition baskets. Just a thought try something else. On a different note can Theobold dribble without carrying the ball! I can't believe that was allowed the entire game...

I know a couple of 8th graders in the house felt much better about their effort against Grey last week which also was also a very lopsided loss. I thought Witte did play a good game but this bunch is missing a pure shooter. I think they got more air than net from long range! CCH is out of their league and where did the Crowley's and Kowolnek's go? This is the first time I caught a glimpse of the basketball only's, to be honest be thankful for the football troops! In fairness, I will reserve comment until I see more games but a late dental visit might be a better option! I am hoping it was a bad night! Lastly, I see effort in the kids! Last night they had trouble shooting stick backs.

HHS

12/30 40%... 1/9 11%... 7/15... 47%

CovCath

21/42 50%...6/13% 46%...14/18...78%

and indeed the young man did play well......good luck for the rest of the season!

The "glowing" stats that have been all to common this year. Out shot from the field 16 times. Allow a team to shoot 50% from the field and almost 50% from 3 land. All the while you shoot 40% and just 11% from 3. Free throw shooting was even worse.

Wow the Birds only took 39 shots compares to 55 by the Colonels.

Somebody else said it earlier, ditch the 1980's sets like the Flex and put in a dribble Drive and some ballscreens. Atleast get some shots off, watching pass, pass, pass, pass turnover is frustrating.

Cov Cath was drilling shots from way out and with hands in their face. They shoot with tremendous confidence, the Birds shoot as a last resort in many cases just so they wont turn it over because the offense breaks down.

Congrats to the Colonels on another win!

Witte and Houliston are solid basketball players, I love the effort that they gave tonight even in a losing cause.

B-ball-fan, it was not a T. It was called an intentional foul.

I would say disappointing on the HHS side, since I was told this was their only their 2nd or 3rd home game of the season! Honestly I thought the gym would be pack on the HHS side of the floor but the HHS students who were there, were loud, until their early exit!

The Crazies did themselves proud tonight.

Were you at the game?
