When is it?

This week I think..

It is this week. The actual combine is on Friday.

Want to wish good luck to Lex (Kendall) Sowards. They left this morning for the drive to Texas. Great kid and a great family. He has gotten a lot of looks over the past 2 years from some D1 schools and I hope this new year makes their decision on where to go a great one.

I believe so

Oh great. So he will basketball this week?

Nick will miss 2 basketball games this week. On Saturday the Birds play Cooper and 6'7' L. Mancini - would be nice to have True's size to help them compete.

Are people in Ft T bothered by him missing these games for football?

Not the majority...:D

I have been to one of these Army combines and I can tell you this much, if your son is planning on playing D1 it a must do and I highly doubt any kid would pass even if he is participating in another sport.

Besides, unless something has changed the whole season of basketball much like baseball in the 36th District are meaningless imo. The only games that count are the playoffs and because the 36th district doesnt seed then whats the big deal. JMO.

Deandre Farris from Collins is going this week as well.

Great opportunity for the young man. Its only a couple of games but a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Like Sweep said, the games he will be missing dont really have any play in the District pairings. It would be nice to have him though against Cooper this weekend.

Good Luck Nick

I think Q and Sweep hit the nail on the head. I think any fan of Highlands basketball would like to see them win every game of the regular season, regardless of its impact or non-impact on the District tourny, but to be selected to participate in the Combine is a heck of an opportunity for any young man. I doubt any Highlands basketball fan begrudges him going.

Do you think a fan of Covcath basketball or Conner basketball would look at it any differently if a CovCath basketball/football player or a Conner basketball/football had done the same? I don't think so.

I would hope not. It's no different IMO than a kid going on an interview for a scholarship. I'm all about commitment to a team but the big picture also has to come into view.

I'm assuming Conner will face it soon with Drew and visits.
