Highlands Basketball

Matt was not a Ft. Thomas kid. He came from OH. for what? two or three years. As soon as he had varsity eligibility in OH. he went back. He had immense knee issues, which really held him back at Moeller. Good kid player, nice kid.

For some treason I though his dad was a Highlands guy. I could be mistaken.

Nope. Matt did follow his dad's footsteps to the Citadel though.

I believe Matt's Dad (Tom) had a son from an earlier marriage named Tom Roberts Jr who played at Highlands back in the early 90's with Jeff Walz and Steve Hunt. That is the connection with Highlands.

I tried to convince Canadian Div1 prospect Ray Kasonga, the 6'8 kid WHO eecently became eligible at Pikeville, that NKY was a better place to live.

Would have made a great wide-receiver!

I thought there was a connection. Tom was a few years younger than me - I think.

How have the crowd sizes been at Highlands home games this season?

"How is a kid who gets cut on his school team going to find a good AAU program? Good AAU programs want to win and if a player who gets cut is looking they are not going to waste their time on that kid. IMO!"

Agreed! My son starts HHS freshman football conditioning tomorrow when he could be playing b-ball. However, he had a bad experience in the Newport b-ball league and gave it up after his 5th grade year. Now it's HHS football. I didn't want to do the AAU route so we had little options to continue.

Knew Highlands was big with their football, but wow I didn't realize how early conditioning started.

You have to have some before you can judge

Holy Cow!!!! Just checked out the schedule, that's amazing. Home on Dec 7th & 8th and not again till Jan. 14th. 13 in a row on the road.

That is just stupid.

It appears the basketball team is suffering once again losing 3 kids this season who would have been likely contributors to the Varsity team. I have not confirmed it but have heard that Todd Ramey (last yr's JV leading scorer and rebounder as soph) will be in the batting cages this winter and Nick True is opting not to play in order to get ready for WKU football next season.

Jensen Feggins, who played a lot as a soph and started a few games is also not coming back from what I understand.

Seth Hope, who was a bigtime rebounder on the JV team as a soph opted not to play last year and will likely not return this year either. These are 4 kids who could have definitely helped out under the boards as all of them were pretty physical and had nice size.

Coach Listerman will likely have 3-4 guards on the floor at one time a lot this season.

Football players who will likely need 30 days to get their legs and shot will be aplenty. Houliston, Greene, Hergott, Brockett, Daugherty, Hebel, Weyer, Hoge ??

Will this team exceed its win total of 13 last season?

Not having Ramey is tough because he can score.....the birds need players who can score!

Hoge did not come out.

Hebel is injured and will be having surgery.

Football players don't have 30 days to get their legs. They have/had 4.

Play at St Henry on Friday and versus Walton Saturday at home.
