It expired because it did nothing to make the country safer. We had like 9 school shooting during it's run. Columbine happened right in the middle of it. The fact is the bans do nothing, absolutely nothing. They may make you feel better but crazy people will always find ways to do crazy stuff.

If you are talking the Brady Bill and the last Federal 'assault weapons' ban. It expired in 2004.

The Center for Disease Control released a study of gun control legislation, including the assault weapons ban and found “insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence.”^[10]

That's the point, they'll continue to strip away at it until it's as worthless as the paper that even the bans are written on. In a nutshell, I firmly believe that is what politicians like Feinstein want. They don't like guns, period. Ultimately, they don't want anyone to own one. They're too ignorant to understand that these bans will never stop these senseless killings from happening. It's time to stop with the useless legislation and start working on the actual problem, as in figuring out what's changed to cause these acts, how do we spot potential offenders, how do we actually protect schools and other public places, what reasonable measures/treatment can be taken/given in regards to mentally ill people to prevent them from committing future acts of violence. Gun bans and gun free zones do absolutely nothing to address any of these.

Like raising taxes on cigarettes - its meant to discourage.

 

And if enforced it would raise probably around $20 billion.

 

I think this would hit right at the 2nd Amendment. This is a different flavor of the Stamp Tax that was one of the last straws to revolution in the late 1700s.

 

 

To enforce the Stamp Tax soldiers would right their own warrants. Come to your house, look for the Kings Stamp on every piece of paper you had. If you had paper without the Kings Stamp - off to jail you went or could if the soldiers decided to. And they could keep you indefinitely.

 

In today's worlds combine Feinsteins gun act, with NDAA (indefinite internment of US citizens) and then create a situation where it is known there many scofflaws and you will eventually need a door to door search that would be akin to the actions of the 'Stamp Act'.
