If one is found - sure.

There are lot of unknowns from that day.

Okay. I misunderstood your point. I thought that there was something about it that you wanted to point out.

Okay. I misunderstood your point. I thought that there was something about it that you wanted to point out.

Sorry. Was trying to point the lack of 'facts' available.

And it looks like another ninety days - at least - for records that will help understand what crimes have been committed to emerge.

Sandy Hook affidavits remain sealed - Connecticut Post

The Honda driven to the school is no longer being identified as the mother's. So that part of 'the story' is very much changing.

Chuck Woolery on why we need 'Assault Weapons'

The left is also once again questioning whether military-type assault weapons have a place in today’s society. To which the right vehemently argues semantics. “Semi- automatic rifles aren’t assault weapons and the left obviously has no experience with guns or they wouldn’t mislabel them and their ignorance on the subject disqualifies them to comment or have any opinion whatsoever.” Known in gun control circles as the “neener neener“ argument.

An argument that totally misses the point. Doesn’t matter what you call them. Semi-automatic rifles. Military-type horizontal handheld ordnance. Futuristic flintlocks. Agitation resolvers. Magic wands. Disputatious caramelized pump-action fruit rolls. Stick a feather in their muzzle and call them macaroni if you want. The basic problem is, the only reason to own a macaroni that can fire hundreds of pieces of lead faster than the speed of sound in mere seconds is to kill people.

Yes, of course they can be used as legitimate hunting rifles. You can also use a flame thrower to light a cigarette. If you think about it, a hand grenade will signal the end of recess. Need to cut some butter, just pull out the trusty old chain saw.

Of course, be prepared for it to get a little messy around Muffin Time. And right now, we’re smack in the middle of an especially messy Muffin Time.

For the record, Durst and Feinstein are both a little to the left of me (hard to believe, I know). I don't think her proposal has a snowball's chance of passing.

Perfect example of the ignorance of the uninformed, he assumes making light of it will win the argument. Obviously he's too uninformed about and has a distinct dislike of guns. In his misguided mind, the reason behind the shootings is how the weapon looks. It looks military so it must be the problem. He then lies to you telling you these rifles can fire hundreds of rounds of ammunition in seconds. That's some semi-automatic weapon, there! I had no idea they made anything like that! I mean, hell, the cyclic rate of fire on a SAW M249 Light Machine Gun is somewhere around 725 rounds per minute. Are these shooters actually using something faster than the SAW? Perhaps Will's talking about people owning an M240B, a weapon with a 650 to 950 rounds per minute fired in continuous bursts with a barrel change every minute? :idunno: Either way, Mr Durst is part of the problem, not the solution. Fear mongering and spreading lies and misinformation isn't going to stop the next lunatic from killing innocent people any more than Feinstein's useless ban proposal. Again, it's time to start looking at real solutions and figuring out the actual problem.

BTW, a semiautomatic firearm is essentially no faster shooting than a double-action revolver, they've been available for well over a hundred and fifty years. Yeah, I know, no 30 round magazines. Are speedloaders next on the ban list?

Sorry. Was trying to point the lack of 'facts' available.

Very fair point.

One thing that does seem consistent with these shootings is that once the shooter is confronted with an armed presence, he usually kills himself or gives up. Until then, his victims are virtually helpless.

This is why I'm so against Gun Free Zones. They're, crudely put, shooting galleries.

This entire case stinks to the high heavens.

The first report was only handguns found and used.

Then a shotgun.

Then the Bushmaster.

Then no shotgun.

Then the Bushmaster was only used.

Agenda?

Agenda? Probably just confusion. Think of all of the other info that came out originally wrong. Name of suspect, that his mother was a teacher at the school, that his father had been killed at home. Etc.

As BGC mentions above, we need to wait and see about many of the facts above.

The basic problem is, the only reason to own a macaroni that can fire hundreds of pieces of lead faster than the speed of sound in mere seconds is to kill people.

As I read this and then re-read it I became very upset. This guy is just flat out lying and make incredible hyperbole statements that have no basis in reality.

"The basic problem is, the only reason to own a macaroni that can fire hundreds of pieces of lead faster than the speed of sound in mere seconds is to kill people."

This is a lie. Flat out, 100% lie. "Hundreds...in mere seconds..."

If you are talking a 'mini-gun' that will do hundreds of rounds of second. Standard semi-auto's are one pull one round. Anything more requires the strict licensing. Full auto and 3-round burst select fire. I am not sure what a sort of licensing a mini-gun requires this would be the only 'gun' on the planet that can fire 'hundreds...in mere seconds..."

"Yes, of course they can be used as legitimate hunting rifles. You can also use a flame thrower to light a cigarette."

Some people do actually hunt with ARs. And it does not fit the 'flame thrower to light a cigarette." analogy at all. In fact - its the opposite. The AR fires a smaller round than a standard hunting rifle. It is actually harder to hunt with the AR. And harder to down a deer with a single shot. It is not blasting away at Bambi with something more 'powerful' than at .30-06. Here is a link that compares the .223 (AR-15 round) and a 'hunting' .30-06 round. It discusses their applications and uses. Link here.

From the link:

"There is nothing practical you can do with a .223 that you cannot do with a .30-06, if you are willing to accept the increased recoil and cost of ammo. There are, however, many things you can do with a .30-06 that you cannot do and should not try to do with a .223."

If you follow the discussion there is lots of uses for an AR-15 in the country and on farms. Since most of the anti-gun writing is coming from the urban based writers maybe they need to get out of the city more.

But even in the city there is a 'legitimate need' for a high capacity rifle according to Congressional testimony offered by Suzanna Gratia Hupp. She specifically point out a person protecting his life and property using a 'assault rifle' during the LA riots. During the LA riots all order broke down. Police ceded parts of LA to the rioters. You were on your own.

From someone who has been there she address the myths.

- The myth of reloading slowing anyone down. Her father tried to rush the shooter during his 'reload' period. 1:25 - 1:54.

- The myth of the 'no legitimate use' for these 'so called assault rifles'. 4:12. Description of the LA riot situation.

- The myth of Gun Frees zones as safe (Texas at the time did not allow CCW). 1:55

As BGC stated above the modern miniguns are the fastest gun made that can be carried and shot by a person. They have the capability of upto 6000 rounds per minute. 1. if you could buy one it would have to be a pre 1984 model and 2. I have no idea if they made them pre 1984 that are small enough for a man to carry and shoot.

An AR-15 would only shot about 50 rounds per minute with any accuracy. That doesn't mean you couldn't shoot a little faster if you didn't really care if you hit anything but it would not take long for your hand to start cramping firing at that rate. As far as calibers, AR's are available in a number of different calibers. .223, .308, 5.56Nato, 7.62, 6.8. Any of which will work just fine for whitetail deer or small animals. Remington started producing a predator hunting gun a few years ago using the AR15 style.
