That's why in a prior post I said "plain view". Honestly I've not read anything other than posts in this thread nor have I seen the video. Cause frankly, whatever the UK Officer did is on him. I'm sure there are some good University officers out there, but I know I've seen plenty where I've thought, "glad he/she doesn't work in my jurisdiction." Anyone got the name of the officer? It might be one I thought that about :lol:

Kind of ironic that the officer that said he would have the student removed from the University was, in fact, himself removed from the University...

That contract cannot supersede one rights. The moment he denied entrance to his dwelling the officers must comply with the law. The resident may have violated his contract and the university may have some right to administrative action. The law, and in this case our Constitution, will always way over a contract.

You may be right, but what about people that sign an agreement to take random drug test when they take a job...aren't they signing away the same right?

I find the video enjoyable. UK police have been using these strong arm "I'm in charge" tactics since I was there in the mid '90's. I wish the webcam technology was around back then. I am glad the cop was fired.

 

Wow, very very sad! My daughter told me tonight that this officer was their "Adopt a Cop" at their sorority. The "Adopt a cop" program gives parents like myself a sense of security that young ladies are being protected by idiots. The girls of the house are very sad about this whole situation. She said he was always at their house for date parties making sure everything stayed under control and kept the "Graham Gaddis"s of the world away. I must say, Graham's parents must be very proud.

 

I would like to know why he set up the officers in the 1st place. Hmmm, probably because the Police have been called to his room before. Isn't recording someone without their knowledge illegal? Graham obviously is a bit wasted in this video. I would think that the University will look at this also to determine if that's the case.. I'm sure they won't be able to do anything, but at least Graham will be on "double secret probation. Also would like to know if Graham gets any State assistance to attend UK? That would be all of our hard earned tax dollars funding a menace.

You don't have a right to have a job with a company. You do have a right to unlawful search and seizure.

What makes you believe he's intoxicated? Other than the claim of dumping the liquor...

Ultimately the office embarrassed the university by being sucked into a peeing contest with a punk kid. He is an adult. He should have known better.

I'm not glad that the officer lost his job. It is sad that he let a mouthy little brat bait him into acting unprofessionally. I am glad, however that the rights of the student were upheld.

 

I do have to say that if that were my son in the video I would immediately call him to congratulate him on protecting his 4th amendment rights...Directly followed by telling him that he would be paying for his own school from this point on until he learned how to act and talk to people.

I hear what you are saying & I obviously do not know either of them personally, but what I heard & saw from the officers on the video is about what I expected from UK police. I could not hear everything on the video b/c of the volume of my I-pad, but I am sure the kid is not innocent by any means...I am happy to hear that your daughter had a positive experience with him as their adopt-a-cop. The video simply reminded me of the treatment UK police dealt out while I was there for 5 years & it was not all on the up and up. Probably comparing apples to oranges, but that is my frame of reference toward UK police and what was going through my head as I posted. I guess this is a time when reputation does you no favors & I realize these are not the same cops from 20 yrs. ago.

You're a sad individual to find joy in someone losing there job for messing up. Hopefully someday you'll make a mistake at work, get canned and others take pleasure in your misfortune. You sir are a real class act.
