I was pulled over back in the summer by an NKU cop and I honestly had no idea they could do that.

Let me just say this: I haven't seen the video, but it sounds like the kid baited the cop & hooked him. I wish i could say that im surprised the cop fell for it, but quite frankly I'm not.

 

I have seen them abuse their power far too many times.

You're biased because you are upset for the officer in the video etc. I made my post based on my negative experiences with the UK Police and I do not have a criminal record myself, just observations at the time.

Depends on the type of city. The KRS has all the classifications. Some city PD's have county wide jurisdiction, some smaller departments don't, but all university officers go through the same DOCJT academy that every other officer in the state outside of KSP, Lexington Metro, and Louisville Metro go through, so they are Peace Officers in the eyes of the Commonwealth. There are also what are known as "interagency agreements" where another agency can request help from a different agency. During the ice storm several smaller agencies reqeusted help from larger ones, even in different counties.

I don't care about the officer to be "upset". Like I said in an earlier post. He messed up and that's on him. Plenty of cops don't need to be cops. Doesn't mean I'm glad to see them lose their jobs. I'm more upset to see them make the mistake or lose their way. Maybe he'll get a second chance elsewhere and learn from this.

Typically I'd say they have authority on campus and maybe a small area just outside of the campus. I'd also say its possible that most campus PD's have agreements with the city/county that gives them jurisdiction outside of campus if necessary.

I did a search on it. I've posted the jurisdictions for UK, NKU and Murray up above. That's pretty much the way it goes, UK just has jurisdiction on campus and on any road running through campus unless investigating a crime that occurred on campus. NKU and MSU have agreements with the local agencies that extend theirs--Murray's all over Calloway County if I read it correctly.
