If you can't see that the kid had every intention of into antagonizing that officer by his actions before and after the altercation, then sir, you're dumber than I thought. Trust me, when it comes to Police and more specifically UKPD, you've "always" generalized them into one category of bullies and corrupt. And he lost his job cause he works for campus PD and its all about the almighty dollar that failing student such as this guy provide. Money talks. I just merely glanced and I saw the same "every" word. And yes the Cop was baited. This obviously was an attempt to get back at the UK police because of earlier run-ins by Graham Gaddis. This cop was the unfortunate one as being the one called to his dorm. And he did let his emotions get the best of him. As would a lot of people especially dealing with a entitled college student. I completely agree with you and it's a shame that he made a mistake, but it is what it is. Had he known he was being recorded, he would have probably handled the situation differently I'd imagine.

This one, IMO, shouldn't have been all that hard for the officer. He let this good for nothing punk get to him. I'm just speaking in general really.

How do you see police violating rights "fairly often"? I'm out a lot and I rarely see the popo in action. When I do, I usually have no clue as to what's going on. Where are you hanging out that you see them all the time and know enough about what they're doing to know that they are violating someone's rights?
December 19, 201213 yr Not sure about violating someone's rights, but Lexington cops are just jerks in general. My younger brother had his car vandalized 3 times in a two week span outside of his house in Lexington (first time a wheel-barrell thrown on his hood, second time a tire slit, and third time a mirror knocked off). He called the cops after each incident to file reports and after the third time the cops called him a moron for parking his car there still, asked him what he did to tick someone off (when he replied "nothing", they told him he better stop lying), and told him that if they're called back again HE'D have a major problem on his hands. When my Dad asked him if he filed a complaint, he said he didn't, because that's just how Lexington cops treat college kids.

Where are you hanging out that you see them all the time and know enough about what they're doing to know that they are violating someone's rights? The 4th amendment. Similar situations to what occurred on video but in houses around campus. I live around all college houses. They stroll around on their bikes and walk intp houses that they think they can write up a few citations for the city. My roommates and I are all 21 or 22 years old and if we're drinking inside with music on they'll help themselves to the front door. They'll stroll right on in and tell you to keep it down when they realize there's nothing illegal going on. That's completely a violation. It happens whether you guys can believe it or not. It sounds ridiculous and I've never seen anything like it until I started living in Lexington. I'm not accusing every cop in the world of violating rights. I believe a small percentage have ever violated rights even once. But the majority, and I say majority with confidence, of the officers on UKs campus don't care about rights around college kids. We witnessed it in this video. The officer simply didnt care about rights at that point.
December 19, 201213 yr I still disagree with your assessment of the "majority" of UKPD. I think the biggest problem is you don't feel rules apply to you or your friends. Seems like most of your complaints reference drinking and music. There's 2 sides to all stories. I'd say it's possible the music may be too loud (most cities have ordinances in regards to loud music). While yes, you have the right to listen to music and binge drink till you puke, others have the right to peace and quiet in their homes. Maybe you were and maybe you weren't in violation of some kind of ordinance. Also, while underage drinking is generally prevalent on most campuses, perhaps you or your friends have less room for error based upon your prior incidents and/or attitudes regarding similar matters? Just my 2 cents, but citizens who are respectful tend to get the same treatment in return.
