All legal issues (and cop jokes) aside, it doesn't surprise me that this kid does this type of stupid crap on Friday nights in college.

Just watched the video for the first time and here are some initial thoughts:

 

1. Kid is a complete punk.

2. #1 doesn't have any bearing on how the cop should have acted. I think it was quite apparent that no matter what the cop said, he knew what he did was wrong. Evident by his reaction to being taped.

3. From the video there is no evidence this kid was intoxicated. Based on his ability to speak, I'd say he was probably sober.

4. I don't revel in the fact someone lost their job, but the person to blame is definitely the cop. From the second the kid denied entrance the cop immediately entered a pissing contest with him.

5. If you are campus police and cannot keep your cool in this type of situation, then maybe a different line of work is best.

6. The "I'll get you expelled" mentality from the cop is one that really irked me.

7. I really wish the kid would have articulated himself in a better manner. If so, he would have a much stronger leg to stand on in the court of public opinion.

Police is the only profession where everyone expects perfection, and everyone knows more about how a cop should do his job than the cop. Does anyone ever think, "How would I feel if someone who has never done my job, came into my office, iPhone in hand, videoing my every move, then critique me on how I program a computer." (or whatever anyone's job is)

 

At most agencies this officer would've gotten a written reprimand or maybe a suspension. He got fired cause this loser pays to go to school and it's all about the money. Had he articulated himself and not used homophobic statements and name calling, the officer would've likely kept his cool till the supervisor arrived.

 

Not necessarily in regards to this video, but police have seconds to make decisions. The all knowing public has all the time in the world to dissect and criticize every word or action spoken.

The kid was in his dorm, now way should he have been arrested. Was the kid being a jerk? Yes! Trying to get the officers into a situation? Yes! But as I said before, the police were ready to leave and the kid just poked his head out the door, still in his room, and said a couple more words, the officer couldn't handle it, and went over the line. I find it a little amusing that the officer kept saying he would have the kid kicked out of school and here the opposite happened. And for those who are saying the kid is a loser or flunking out, that has NOTHING to do with the topic.

The officer acted like every other UK cop, but he happened to get video taped. It's not like UK cops ONLY violate rights when they're being baited...they do it all of the time. Bait or no bait. No sympathy for the officer in this situation. He violated rights, he pushed a kid in his own dorm, searched his refrigerator with no warrant present. Sucks that he lost his job, but he knowlingly violated rights....cya.

EVERY UK cop? Seriously? Talk about a flat moronic statement. Nothing says bias like a generalistic statement such as that. While I'm sure you've felt "bullied" by UK cops. Unless you are a total turd on society, you've not had dealings with EVERY UK Police Officer. If there was some semblance of truth to your "every other UK cop" statement, there'd be lawsuits coming out their rears and Supreme Court cases involving UKPD. Asinine...

With that being a dormitory setting would there even have to be students in the hall? Wouldn't loudly yelling and cursing outside of his room be enough given the close proximity of other students? I don't know how that statute is worded.
