The kid wanted this confrontation. He set it up to record the whole thing. Cost a man his job. While the university may not be proud of the way their officer acted, can we all agree that they should be even less proud of how their student acted?

If he doesn't call the officer names/drop mass f bombs would anyone have a problem with what the kid did? (Being sarcastic and refusing entry to the room)

Expressing your opinion is fine, it's the opinion that is classless. I'd like to see someone come into your job, if you have one, bait you into messing up by provoking you and then you lose your income and worry about your family. I really don't care about you taking backwater and trying spin your statement to look less classless. You said it all by "enjoying the video" and being "glad he was fired."

 

I dont give a rip what you CLAIM UK PD was like in the 90's. I've been to College and I know just how big of jackasses college kids can be, so I can see where some officers on a campus could adopt a "zero tolerance for BS from spoiled brats" can happen. Me doing my job has cost plenty of people their jobs (or so they claimed). Did they at the end of the day make the decision to do the things they did to cause their own firing? Yup, did I do my job? Yup, but I have never went home at the end of the day and thought, "man, I'm glad they're gonna get fired!" In fact my thoughts are " I hate to see anyone lose their job, but they made the decision to do what they did."

There are a lot of people saying they had bad experiences with campus police or police in general. I can say that my two kids at UK have had nothing bad to say about the police there. Both campus and Lex. Now of course, they probably wouldn't tell me if they did anyway, because that would indict them. But I can say they have talked pretty positively about them. And my son lives smack dab in the middle of University St(off campus street). And to say this is a bit of a party street is saying it lightly.

 

Anyway, this Graham fella had a motive for sure. What comes around, goes around son!

Karma will suck for this young man someday. He will need Law Enforcement more than they will need him that's for sure. If your this kids parents there is no way he should of disrespect the law the way he did regardless of right or wrong. They must be very proud. There are other ways to prove your innocence son.

I don't think it was the case here but people do extreme things, when they believe they are wronged, to prove a point. This extreme situation proved that officer would abuse his power.

I don't think it was a conscious effort to "abuse power." It's as simple as letting the kid get to him and losing his cool. Like I said, I've not seen the video and don't plan to. However, if this is in a dorm hall and their were other residents of the dorm around, I'd say the kid should have been hooked on DC.

If he has enough for a search warrant, the kid is not allowed to re-enter the room till either a judge signs or denies the warrant. If he didn't have any PC for a warrant, then he best say ok and leave.
