Safe to say UC traded up.

They did?

They did?

You'd take Butch Jones over Tuberville???

I'm not convinced TT is better. What would I base it on?

Do you realize Butch Jones never beat a ranked team at UC? Not once in 3 years. Do you really need a reminder of the success Tuberville had at Auburn? Come on Clyde...

Chizek had success at AU.

With a ton of players recruited by Tuberville and the obvious addition of Cam. When his base and Cam were gone, how'd that go???

You might be right. I'm always nervous when a coach is running from another school.

I get your point, but winning at the level he did in the SEC is impressive any way you slice it. From the folks at Tech I have heard from today it just never seemed to be a fit. Far too much booster involvement and an AD that didn't do much to control the situation made it a place he wanted out of since he arrived...

Hearing Petrino as OC is a very realistic possibility...

Didn't Petrino, at one point, try to take Tubbs job? Not saying that he wouldn't come along as there is familiarity between them but I could see that as a "possible" sticking point.

There is also some rumors right now that Petrino might take the job at Arkansas State (Malzahn's old job) so I guess we'll see what will happens as things are bound to move fairly quickly over this next week or so.

Petrino was the topic of a lot of conversation in my 8 plus hours on the UC campus today. Obviously if he can get a head coaching job, that would be the priority. Apparently he and Tuberville go back a while, and while the situation at Auburn was ugly they are still pretty close. That said I have some doubts UC would take the chance even as an OC. With the Arkansas situation still so fresh it is likely the hire would go as far up the food chain as needing BOT approval. Don't see that happening from some things I heard today...

Texas Tech to UC? What was going on that he wanted out of Lubbock so bad?

Here is my 2 cents on this. Have you ever been to Lubbock or tried to drive to Lubbock? THERE IS NOTHING! Have you been to Austin? Great city, so much to do (can't stand UT though). Last but not least, College Station is AWESOME! The campus is beautiful and it is Texas A&M (nothing else I can say). With Texas being in the Big 12 and A&M being in the SEC I would have to say it is tough to recruit to nowhere (Lubbock), TX even though Texas Tech is in the Big 12.

Tuberville will not coach the Belk Bowl and instead leave that to the previous staff that is staying on board through the game. His former staff at TTech will also stay behind for the most part to coach that bowl game. He will be in Cincinnati recruiting, building a staff and getting used to the program though...

Texas Tech athletics is starting to seem like the Wild West where they let just about anything fly and that goes for the boosters as well as the coaches if they think it's good for the program.

2004 was a good year.
