Wolford has never coached a down of varsity football. That coupled with the other commitments that he has and has publically stated will continue has to make at least his first year a huge question. Maybe it will work out and he'll be an outstanding coach, maybe he was hired just for his name and money and will be a figure head only or maybe something else will happen. Bottom line to me is that there is one proven coach in the T/X mix and until the results show on the field any talk of the proverbial pendulum swinging is very premature.

Honestly i was looking strictly from a team to team: whose returning whom, who has who type standpoint. Maybe that was stupid. Who knows? thanks for the conversation.

Oxnard used to start this "Pendulum" talk at the end of every season. History tells us how that has gone. ROCKS have taken 10 of the last 12. I still like our chances. GO ROCKS!!!

These past 3 years the pendulum has not moved far away from Trinity's side. But from 2000 - 2009...the "pendulum" was about has even as you could get. Does it show up in championships? No, those have been very one sided. But, it's not like the Rocks just did whatever they wanted, unlike the past 3 years. I think starting this the games will become much more even....kind of like the past playoff game. The sky isn't falling on the Tigers, unfortuantely there needs to be a change of blood on Poplar Level Rd, we'll see if Coach Wolford is what is needed, but X will be fine in the coming years and will get those big victories over Trinity again. In the words of Kevin Bacon, "All is well!"

 

Good luck to X next year. If I'm Coach Wolford I find a way to get Walker, Purcell, and Davis all on the field at once.

Ah the condescending St.X attitude of Trinity not taking only the white, privileged Catholic kids that grow up in the East End of town or Audobon Park. Sorry if we decide spread the Shamrock brotherhood beyond the confines of the well-to-do, we will always emphasize a Trinity education and the advantages of our brotherhood no matter someone's connections or family history.

I am fairly certain that the vast majority of the improvements to campus were planned well before Szabo arrived my friend. In fact the special needs program that Trinity has along with its handicapped accessibility (which we won an award for not too long after we finished some additions in the early part of the last decade) were planned when Dave Aberli was still the basketball coach at Trinity and most of that progress was made well before then. I know it is hard to see from the porch of the country club those individuals who came from blue collar families, or those that had to struggle to make sure their kids made it through a private school, but that is who helped make Trinity the school that it is today. Is there an uptick in individuals at Trinity who come from families that have two parents who graduated from college? I am sure there is now that more Trinity alums have sons attending. I would venture to guess though that MANY more Trinity grads than St. X grads from the 1960s through the early to mid 90s were among the first generations of their families to graduate college.

 

We know what it takes to build things from the ground up and as a school that has known from the beginning that we should welcome all who want to attend we don't like to put limitations on who wants to join our brotherhood. So while some at the Poplar Level Polo Fields look at us bringing in a diverse group of students and young men from varied walks of life with all sorts of backgrounds and say "They are just trying to get an edge in sports!" We look at this diverse group of people and say "Look at how many different groups want to call themselves Shamrocks, we should be proud of what we built and hope that even more want to share in this with us."

 

I am sorry that we are not elitist enough for you, but it takes more than a golf course and Lakeside to make a community.
