I think BG is the best in 5A. It is not by a huge margin at all IMO. They have had to defeat some really strong, physical, senior laden teams in the playoffs. Cooper will fit in that same category. I'll take BG in a close one throughout the game, but ends up 28-14.

With 18 starters returning in '13, the gap that LCDawgs talks about may be real next year.

Getting there is a huge accomplish. Reality check is that Cooper is not even close to being considered a FB power. Let's give it a few seasons and see how they continue to progress.

Well here we go again. Guess the Jags have to keep on winning before they get the respect that is due. This is almost déjà vue. If I go back and read all the FC post the week before the game they are almost identical from the opposing team.

 

Like I said two weeks ago when it was plastered that the Jags didn't have a chance, they will show up and just play football. Keep telling me I'm in la la land because I'm been there for the last 4 weeks and watched 4 other teams that were supposed to beat Cooper have there season end on sour notes.

I love how you guys keep banging the 'we don't get respect' drum because of one or two people who got under your skin. Well, respectfully I don't think Mr Sixter was refering to jus this message board. Local papers, and other sites had Cooper losing in the playoffs besides the FC game. Wcpo online had Harlan Co winning etc. Other message boards also had Harlan winning etc. as did other sites and papers all through the playoffs. I don't think he is referring to only this site.

 

Local papers have dissed Cooper a lot. For instance I can think of 2 times in the last few weeks that losing local teams got more press than Cooper etc.

 

Just this past week there was a local school that lost and had a nice write up about them while cooper had a couple sentences.

 

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy the underdog role. It keeps them humble and hungry.

If you look at the papers Cooper was picked to loose in Fanklin and Harlan County games . But I for one like the fact that they keep putting them at underdogs !! Dont want the boys to get to cocky !! Like they did last year against Anderson County .

I don't think anyone associated with Cooper ever claimed them to be a football powerhouse nor ever will. We fans are simply enjoying this season.

 

It will be very hard for a school like Cooper to ever be a consistent football powerhouse simply because of where they are located. They along with Boone Co, Conner and Ryle will never be consistent powerhouses because they all draw athletes from the same pool of players, that is the BCPWFL.

 

Someone asked earlier in the season if Cooper was now the powerhouse in Boone and I stated no because of how the schools in the county all draw from the same pool of kids. A schools dominance in the county will go in 2-3 year spurts and then another of the schools will have similar runs. It's the luck of the draw and which of the 4 schools get the best athletes from the jrnhigh schools each year.

Trust me I don't let stuff on BGP posts get under my skin. All I'm saying is if people are thinking this wont be a hard fought game they are in for a rude awakening. Hellbird took the words right out of my mouth. If u look outside BGP polls such as newspapers n local news ul see Copper was underdogs in every game.

 

It's all good. We will see what happens Saturday. Only thing I'm 100% sure of is my team will be prepared, especially for "hook n ladders", and will play til the clock reads 0:00.
