He still shot 49% from the floor and 38% from deep. That's still an impressive display.

It's DIII, might as well be a rec league game.

I don't base it only on D3. There are strong D3 teams. This little school isn't one of them.

The coach IMO showed great disrespect to the game itself. You play to win. He accomplished that with ease. Keeping starters in and trying to get one guy some sort of record is a poor reflection upon the coach.

Great commentary on ESPN. Said the program was trying to get on the map and on ESPN and they accomplished that!

Had I been the opposing coach I, too, would have been on ESPN.

ESPN's ratings would skyrocket with more Clizzy coverage.

Taking a play out of your playbook here Clyde, if you only play to win then why keep records?

To your question, you play to win , show respect, and play the right way. This guy played first for the record for an individual and publicity for his offense which will hopefully sell more books and DVDs. He is all about him but tries to disguise it as helping a player get pub. You can keep records. But this record is just like JJ Jude's individual game rushing record. It's the equivalent of telling your team to fall down and let the kick returner score so we can get the ball back and get our guy a record.

Records are great.

Do it the right way.

If my math is correct Taylor increased his scoring average by 38.17 points last night to 61.67. Went over his 23.5 scoring average by 114.5.

Stats before last night: Grinnell College - Season Statistics

Pretty sure that's what I read on ESPN last night.

Kinda my sentiments. It's not like it was in the SEC tourney or something . Might as well be intramurals :D, who cares

It's going in the record book isn't it?

^yup, I just don't see why everyone is offended by him shooting so much.

Nothing about this is positive to me. Dumb, publicity stunt, no defensive pride... However you spin it, this game was a farce. Makes D3 look like a joke... And Transylvania and Centre aren't joke programs.

PP, did you watch the tape of the game?

They pressing up that much?

They were pressing, up 70 points, with 2 minutes to play. This "record" is a sham and the coach is a pathetic loser who is working overtime to sell books on his "system".
