In regards to the "didn't know who he was" comment.

 

UK is doing these kids a disservice IF they are not having someone remind them of certain things when they are going out in public. As someone in the biz told me it would take Duane Peavy 2 minutes after a practice to tell them that Sean Woods is going to be at this telethon and his rafter hangs in the rafters at Rupp so he's part of the UK family and tradition and to make sure you introduce yourself. IF(and we don't know) that did NOT happen then someone failed the players.

 

Very true. But maybe they didn't know that he was coming and it was a surprise appearance. Or maybe they did know he was coming but it's not like they knew what he looked like. If it wasn't for last year, I'm not real sure I'd know who Sean Woods was (based on apperance) if he walked past me.

Wouldn't be surprised if the players didn't know who Sean Woods was...because if I saw him out in public, I wouldn't have a clue who he was, and I grew up a UK fan. Most of these players didn't. If they didn't know who Woods was and didn't introduce themselves, I could surely see how he would be a little bit irked. And that's just me assuming that's where his comments stemmed from.

If somehow we find out that there was NO sign of disrespect or an egregious act by any of the UK players then Sean is 100% wrong. We'll likely never really know.

I'm pretty much with PP92 on this.

 

Five coaches have won national championships while overseeing the UK men's basketball program. So obviously, there is a sense in which the program transcends any one individual.

 

But at the same time, the program was regressing during Tubby's last two years & the two BCG years. The manner & speed in which the program has been turned around could only have happened under Cal IMO. Kentucky had the most talented roster in the country during his first season. No other coach could have done that so quickly.
